That explains why we've heard that Dell is expanding(or has expanded since it's original offerings) it's ubuntu line.

I just placed Ubuntu on my laptop little over a week ago (dual boot). I like it, but am not willing to give up XP yet due to software compatibility issues. Yes, I know about Wine, but not all Windows software will run on Linux. I’ll probably get a partition manager and expand my 7.5Gb Linux partition to make more use of it.

Dell never expanded their linux lime, they replaced the cheapest laptop with one that often costs more than the windows equivalent after discounts.
