My Dragonfly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and me...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

New Year’s Resolutions have me in stitches -
O can I, can I scratch where it itches?
I promise to begin to put things away —
But will I be able to find them at the end of the day?
I promise to read less for fun to while away the time
(But how can I resist sweet lemon and lime?)
I promise to write more, each day that goes by
(But the internet tempts me so much I could cry!)
I promise to go walking each day for a break -
(But it’s windy and cold and this story’s hot, for pity’s sake)
I promise to smile when he interrupts when I’m busy -
(But the drama queen in my heart wants to pout ‘till I’m dizzy.)
I promise to avoid Border’s Books to scratch that book buying itch
(but Amazon is waiting - and has books in my niche!)
New Year’s Resolutions have me in stitches -
I cannot, cannot scratch where it itches.

Good morning/afternoon everyone!
Yes, Meg you may dream,
outside my window is another scene
the winds are howling, the wind chill a disaster
the plows are plowing the snow around,
salt trucks are salting, to avoid the skids.
school is in session, so are the kids.
While Knitting A Conundrum, is resolving to change her ways
still it sounds great to spend the days,
reading and writing
as is her wont
shopping on line for tomes and tomes of books
that surely need homes!
Well, the day begins anew, and white
I'm in for the day, no need to take flight.
The larder is filled with good things to eat
as I thank my lucky stars, the furnace is giving off heat.
The Lady and Johnn, stayed up late, chatting away and having some fun.
NYA is working as usual, he is the Lair's task master it seems
looking crisp and neat in his uniform
til Callie places her furry calling card on him
she does that just to make sure her human is in tow
the way of cats, doncha know!

Something small I wrote for a friend who broke through writer’s block:
Dancing words now here
Drop petal by pink petal
Catching on mind’s wind.

Words, like pieces in a puzzle
shifting about until they fit
a picture made of words
a thought made visible
a dream given flesh
formed and shaped
by a mind driven
finding a moments peace
in the glory of that work
before the next calls you on

This is something I wrote back around 2000:
Words Like Threads
I send to you these words,
wound up like silk threads
on a bobbin,
shiny, and soft,
where you can see the twist
helixing around in shimmery spirals.
I send you these words,
like threads wound about a shuttle,
ready to be woven in and out
as the fabric is made,
too weak perhaps for warp,
but perfect for weft.
I send you these words,
like linen thread, sun bleached
in the afternoon light, strong,
pliable, utilitarian.
With them sew up your memories
into a brilliant cloth
dazzling in the light.

I like that, it has a depth and shape that illuminates itself with a soft thoughtful light.
I like the weaving idea of words and thoughts, it makes a concept of creative effort into a physically solid entity for the reader.

I stole it from the Fates, I think, way back when I was a kid....Mythology sticks with me, and the way the guy who wrote the Black Cauldron series (also read when I was pretty young) played with it.
