It’s been a long week for the folks answering phone calls for Time Warner and ComCast.
To: Hoodlum91
Yeah. That's courtesy of our friends Tagliabue and Goodell (or as he could also be called, Mr. Jane Skinner).
Damn, that has triggered The Rule...

(Hope Tom McMahon isn't too mad I'm borrowing his bandwidth; make it up to him and go read his blog and 4-Block World)

True that. We've even had a lot of bipartisan bloviating.
Fortunately, Milwaukee's been given special dispensation as a secondary home market for the Packers, so I'll be able to get the game from WISN-TV/DT. I wonder if the NFLN will send the HD feed down the line this time.

Exactly. OTOH, the NFL is creeping in the direction of big-time prizefighting.

"Ill be watching directv channel 212 NFL network tonight."
Go right ahead, I will be watching DirecTV channel 95- the game in High Definition ;)
To: mainepatsfan
Last year, I don't recall either ESPN or NFLN sending an HD feed to local stations for rebroadcast. This year, ESPN did send the HD feed along (that could be because WISN is the local ABC affiliate and they just realized that this year).
You might want to keep an eye on the weather if you're looking at the Pittsburgh game. There is a potentially-ugly storm that will be rolling through my neck of the woods Saturday afternoon/evening (depending on the exact track either a lot of snow or a lot of freezing rain), and that system's due for an all-day soaking of Pittsburgh Sunday.

Sorry, pal, as a die hard Redskins fan, I have nothing to live for this season. So I’ll take the next best thing- a Cowboys loss..

Go right ahead, I will be watching DirecTV channel 95- the game in High Definition ;) I'll be watching on 212 in HD (MPEG-4) while you watch it on 95 in HD (lesser MPEG-2).

Um...DirecTV channel 212 is the NFL network which is NOT broadcast in HD.To see the game in HD you must tune in channel 95.
To: scott says
With the new receivers, the MPEG-4 HD channels “co-exist” at the regular numbers. The older receivers (or the newer ones without the K-band converters) only get the MPEG-2 versions on channels 70-99.
My HD DVR will record the game so I can start watching it late after the kids have been put to bed, and it will be gorgeous.

Re:
One of my classmates was working her way through college as a, GULP!, Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader. One night she hosted a dinner party at her parent's house in Highland Park. The obligatory tour of her bedroom suite was the highpoint of the evening. We had an opportunity to see her official Cheerleader oil painting! It was full sized! Did she show you the full sized...
nude painting of me she kept out by the hot tub?
BTW I took Con Law at SMU in 1969. The last question on the final was: "How has the class effect you?" I answered, "It has made me realize my horse hockey reserve was not deep enough to get me through the next 2 and one half years of law school."
Yes, that made me...
the bot I am today!

OK. I got my HD receiver 4 years ago so it is different than yours.I don’t have DVR. Which model should I get?
I noticed DirecTV has some offers going but I don’t know which one to go with—
What would you recommend?
To: All
I'm ready!
Spared y'all seeing my face - wouldn't want to stop any clocks so you'll get to your TVs to watch the game on time!
GO, COWBOYS!!!!

I noticed DirecTV has some offers going but I dont know which one to go with What would you recommend? Despite the folks who have negatively commented about it, I do like the HD-20 DVR model. Try to talk them down lower than $299 for it though, especially since you'll pay an extra $5/month for DVR service (well worth it, in my book).
Otherwise, just go for the latest HD receiver.

Re:
Hear me now and believe me later (especially since I'm 4-0 on Thursday games) - Packers 28, Cowboys 27. If you are correct...
I have a cheesehat ready to wear for the next week.
But what are you going to do if my Boys win?
I can say without doubt--
Seeing you without a cheesebar...
would not be a treat!
