Field-level replay. He bobbled it until one foot was out of bounds.
It looked legit on the overhead view, I agree. But the field-level view showed all.
Field level replay showed fingertip catch and a shift to tuck.
The problem is whether he was “bobbling” or making a controlled move. Ball control. He clearly had control.
"Bobbling" a ball implies that the ball was bouncing around in his hands, or bouncing around off his body, as he was trying to gain control of the ball. Gaffney was doing none of that. He caught the ball in his hands, both feet in bounds, and brought it into his chest as he was going out of bounds.
Perhaps you'd come to a different conclusion if you weren't watching the game on a 10" SDTV, like you said you were.
Not in the field level replay I saw.
Personally, I was hoping against a TD because I didn’t want to give the Ravens the ball back with that much time, however he had control throughout.
That was not my intent. I was merely trying to suggest that you might have come to that conclusion because you had a less-than-optimal view of the play.
Gaffney had full control of the football from the time it hit his fingertips until the time he tucked it into his chest. He did not bobble it a bit.
Sorry, man, but you're just wrong.
I can see where you’re coming from because 1 of the other people I was watching the game with thought the same thing. But I and the 3rd person in the room both thought it was a controlled move by Gaffney. Which in the end shows the ref probably got it right, to over turn requires irrefutable evidence and right now it’s only looking like about 1/3 of the people watching thought he was bobbling, that doesn’t seem irrefutable.
I watched the HEAD-ON shot discussed on HDTV on a 52” screen. It was clearly out of control, and he just got lucky it stayed in the area of his hands.
I say that call was bad given what we could see.
The touchdown was “actually” scored no matter how you look at it (unless, of course, you look at it the way a liberal does, where anything that you WANT to happen can be construed as reality...)
It looked clear to me he was tucking the ball and had it in his possesion. You disagree. The refs agree with me. But then, the refs are probably Pat’s fans...
He caught the ball in his hands while in the end zone and brought the ball into his body with his right hand underneath it. Absolutely NO bobble at all. None.
Yes, in fact, these particular refs ARE Pats Fans. Deal with it....
You haven't been watching football for a long time, have you?
Bwahhhaaahaaa!
Deal with it?
I think it is grand...:)
Thanks. pretty clear catch and tuck.
I think our poor Ravens’ fans are missing the control aspect.
I think what most of these people are missing is that it MUST be conclusive to overturn the call on the field. The fact that there are large portions of people who see it both ways, apparently including the refs, indicates that it CANNOT be overturned.
That is a basic tenet of video review in the NFL.
Damn. Can’t see it here, would have to wait for home.
That too.
Yeah, get back to work...
I love it when I do things so fast I don’t have anything else to do for the day.... :D
