I hope that we do get to play in the championship game against Mizzou. They have been and continue to be a top class orginization.
However, I fear the match-up will not happen. Even if Mizzou beats OK and WVU beats Pitt, I believe the BCS will jump Ohio State to the 2nd position.
Since Miami, VA Tech, & Boston College left the big east the BCS has treated the big east teams like we were div II schools. Last year there was talk about taking away the automatic bowl for the conference champion because we were considered a weak conference. Then the big east went 6 for 6 in bowl games last year and I haven’t heard that talk again.
So I hope to watch our programs meet in January and I pray that the BCS will leave the rankings alone (if we both take care of business) and let us see some great football.
The only way OSU jumps to 2 is if one of those teams loses.
I would reeeeeeally love Mizzou to beat OK. :-)
I absolutely agree.
By the way, congrats on your thorough pounding of my UConn Huskies the other day. We were absolutely humiliated...although we did score first, if that counts for anything ;-)
Mike and Mike had their BCS expert on today. He said there is no way Ohio State can jump WVU if the Mounties win out. Actually the Big East Bowl wins in 2006 were 5 for 5 but your point is well taken.
I do want to see Missouri play West Virginia in the BCS Championship Game—at least it won’t be boring. If we end up getting West Virginia vs Ohio State, that could be bad news because Ohio State has never played well against a team with anything resembling a really good offense (WVU is probably the best practicioners of the “spread” offense in the USA, and that could cause no end of trouble for tOSU’s defense).
