The problem I have with a playoff is that you cannot objectively seed the teams for a playoff. It would be seven teams plus Notre Dame every year.

Which begs the question: Why not cede the NC to the doomers and use the BCS for runner-up? On a serious note, I agree. I think a lot of the enjoyment of CF is bourne of the established traditions.

I also believe that a mythical championship maintains a sense of what that level of competition ought to represent. I like to think that there are many winners under the currrent system as opposed to only one certified winner. I know it's not pure as the driven snow, and that $$$$ remains an ascendant force. Eventually, the $$$$ will prevail, but I (knowing that my vote is not relevant) will continue to adhere to the notion the inherent uncertainty of the current yield is better for CF than a sterilizing playoff system.
