Led Zeppelin have given a clear hint that they are thinking about staging a full-scale tour after their reunion gig next month.
Speaking to Guitar World magazine in the States, guitarist Jimmy Page suggested the one-off show may lead to something bigger.
"It's a bit silly not to because there is such massive demand," he said.
Until now, the band had said they were only planning to do the one show at the O2 Dome, in honour of Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.
But following what Page described as the "overwhelming" reaction to the show, clearly they are re-thinking things. It's estimated up to 20 million people applied for just 18,000 tickets.
"It's a bit selfish to do just one show. If that's it, we probably shouldn't have taken the genie out of the bottle," he said.
The show has been delayed while Page rests a broken finger on his left hand. He got the injury when he tripped over a paving slab in the dark.
"The light was very dim and I tripped over something and I landed on various bits of my anatomy but of course the crucial part was left hand, little finger," Page has previously told Sky News.
The rescheduled gig at the O2 Arena will now take place on December 10.
Turn that lad onto some vintage David Lee Roth led Van Halen. Darn, they really played great at Madison Square Garden.
One of the best quotes in rock is Ozzy saying they had to kick Van Halen off the tour because they were kicking their asses night in and night out.
Classic.
Sadly, VH went down the same road as many bands with the excess of ego and drugs.
But as Roth said on this last tour. “Heard you missed us. We’rrrrrre Baaaaack.”
Man were they ever!
He has them, too. I’ve got ‘em on vinyl, my son has them on cd.
“Love their music. Back when I was a long hair I spent many an hour listening to that heavy sound and watching the ceiling drip to the ground and change colors.”
Wow, the music did that for you?;)
I never saw ZZ Top in concert. The one band that has eluded my concert-going days. I'm still holding out hope that I get to see them.
I would love to see Pink Floyd in concert, too. BTW, The Paul McCartney Live at the Cavern Club dvd had David Gilmour playing lead guitar. Ian Paice from Deep Purple sat in on drums.
Have you seen any of the new VH tour yet? If so, are they as good as ever?
Now that I think of it, I never saw them either. I also missed out on Pink Floyd. I never thought about that before. Wonder how I missed those two.
Oh this is a tough one. The answer is yes:
Izod Center, NJ
Nassau Mausoleum, LI
Madison Square Garden
They seemed to play best at MSG. It was great to hear them sounding so good and people were stoked.
they usually lack in concert but I would like to see this one
one last time
some old bands really do well....Lynyrd Skynyrd performs as well now as ever actually
with 3-4 old members and Van Zandt the younger....they are very good.
The Eagles...lefty bastards they are except Walsh.....still do very well.
Pink Floyd would if they would quit squabbling.
Iggy Pop....still hell on wheels.
Don’t know about Daltry and Townsends latest endeavor....Pete can sure play and Daltrey can still sing some but now without the Ox...greatest rock bassist ever no question....WHO knows?
I saw Social Distortion recentlyand while they are about 15 years newer than these guys, they are still 40 somethings and quite good.
Dickey Betts has a hard time singing but he still plays effortlessly.
I saw the original Black Sabbath on some Brit TV awards show last year and they kicked ass...incredible.
old rock is a strange bird.
I saw a bootleg from Belgium or France of a Pink Floyd show that reportedly had Frank Zappa sitting in on something like Interstellar Overdrive.
I didn’t doubt the event but I didn’t like the crappy computer (JPG) cover on the vinyl and worried that the sound came from files sourced from poorly compressed mp3s.
I’m sure I will hear this recording some day. Anyone else have any light on this show? I only learned of the Paul & John reunion thing this year.
I used to live at the Fillmore East as a kid. I was lucky enough to see just about everyone at one time or another. Changed my life for sure ( been a professional guitarist now for 36 years now ...YIKESSS)
Glad to hear that. I saw some reviews and they were positive. If they come back to my area I will go see them. Good to see Roth is back with them. Too bad about Michael not being there but what can you do?
Unbelievable. Do you play in a band? Session? Teach?
Yeah it’s too bad about Michael Anthony but I have to say the kid, Wolfgang can really play quite well. From what I saw he played better each show and was more relaxed too.
The thing about Roth is he doesn’t do the split from the drum kit but he’s singing so much better than everyone thought, you don’t care.
As for Eddie, well, I thought we had lost them so when my friend said let’s get tix I was not interested. Figured it was too late to see them again. But the rehab and the early reviews were very good and I changed my mind. Glad I did.
Oh and Eddie passed up a Bud to me at the NJ show. :)
Can't they knock off the childish squabbling for their fans. We love them and want to see them on tour again. What don't they understand about that.
I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd in concert and it was great. I know that many love "Freebird" but it was too long. It got boring for me. I'll get flamed for saying such but so be it.
I love rock and roll threads. This is a fun thread for a Saturday afternoon.
Absolutely great story. You literally saw Bonham on his way out. Just amazing.
Been a long time since I Rock & Rolled — I heard that song on a Cadillac commercial.
