Led Zeppelin: Genie's Out Of The Bottle [Full-Scale Reunion Tour Likely]
Sky News ^ | 11/15/2007 | Matt Smith

Led Zeppelin have given a clear hint that they are thinking about staging a full-scale tour after their reunion gig next month.

Speaking to Guitar World magazine in the States, guitarist Jimmy Page suggested the one-off show may lead to something bigger.

"It's a bit silly not to because there is such massive demand," he said.

Until now, the band had said they were only planning to do the one show at the O2 Dome, in honour of Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.

But following what Page described as the "overwhelming" reaction to the show, clearly they are re-thinking things. It's estimated up to 20 million people applied for just 18,000 tickets.

"It's a bit selfish to do just one show. If that's it, we probably shouldn't have taken the genie out of the bottle," he said.

The show has been delayed while Page rests a broken finger on his left hand. He got the injury when he tripped over a paving slab in the dark.

"The light was very dim and I tripped over something and I landed on various bits of my anatomy but of course the crucial part was left hand, little finger," Page has previously told Sky News.

The rescheduled gig at the O2 Arena will now take place on December 10.

I’m on the Rock ping list, I’ve just never cared for Led Zep, but I will probably go see them if they come to the east coast if for no other reason than to be able to say I saw them.

I’m going on record as being pissed at you for ridiculing the GREATEST live band in history! :-)

Is it true there's actually a recorded live version of "Dark Star" that lasts longer than the uncut Lord of the Rings movie trilogy...? ;)

Robert Plant has been listening to a lot of old rockabilly these days. Norton Records named him their "customer of the year 2006" and gave him a $10 gift certificate. He called into their 20th anniversary radio celebration.

Link below... "November 9, 2006 Norton Records party featuring Mary Weiss from the Shangri-Las PLUS The Real Kids PLUS telephone calls from Kim Fowley, Ronnie Spector, Roky Erickson, Deke Dickerson, The Alarm Clocks, Dale Hawkins, Robert Plant, Sam the Sham & Question Mark!!!! "

(Listen to this show!)

I never “got” Dark Star (and it still isn’t one of my favorites, I vastly prefer Wharf Rat, Stella Blue, Terrapin, He’s Gone and Friend of the Devil) until I saw the “return” of it after five years in Hampton in 1989.

Here's another photo from the same shoot:

He's holding a new "Jimmy Page Signature Les Paul Custom" which will be his 3rd signature guitar to be commissioned for him by Gibson. I really want one but it is certain to be quite expensive. I'm guessing in the $7000+ range.

Les Paul is 93 and still playing every week. Are they going to be his opening act?

I'm still holding out for a Pink Floyd reunion. I'd easily pay $200+ for a ticket to see them.

I saw "The Division Bell" tour and it's still my favorite concert I ever saw. I know it wasn't with all the original members but it was my best opportunity at the time to see some of the remaining members of the original Pink Floyd.

The light show alone was well worth the money. It was awesome.

4th of July weekend in '94 at Camp Randall Stadium (80,000 people) in Madison. It was a blast.

Thanks for the picture eye opener. I didn’t think I’d ever see that.

I have this friend -- lifelong buds, the two of us; ever since third grade, forty-something years ago -- who is, hands down THE Lord High God of All Dead Heads. ;) Spent an entire summer between high school and college following them on the road, during whichever the heck tour that would have been. Owns more Dead "live bootleg" albums, tapes and CDs than anyone without the last name of "Godchaux."

I tease him about the Dead, too. I'm just evil and wrong that way, is all. ;)

I'm guessing in the $7000+ range.

For guitar! Wow.

Did you know that the trees/wood at the bottom of Lake Superior produces some of the best wood for making guitars. Clapton had some made from it. I'll find you an article on it.

Whoever wrote that for Snopes doesn't know what they are talking about. While the album may be a hoax, (s)he editorializes that the public HAD to know it was phony because (s)he says "it's hard to believe that even those who hadn't read the review could have been taken in by the hoax. Mick Jagger complaining 'I can't get no nookie? Bob Dylan warbling the 50s doo-wop classic 'Duke of Earl'..."

No harder to believe than Mick Jagger's own bootleged "Co**sucker Blues" with the lines "Where do I go to get my **** sucked? Where do I go to get my *** *ucked?"

And Bob Dylan WAS a rock and roll fan who has been DENIED his right to enjoy these songs by pinko lib folkie types. He DID sing a doo wop duet with Rambling Jack Elliot about pimples.

And Paul McCartney and John Lennon DID reunite in the 1970s for coke party in the studio, the session tapes got bootlegged as "a toot and a snort":

Libs always have to put their own biases into a story even when they know nothing about the subject.

I didn't find them to be all that great in concert

I agree. I saw them in Tuscaloosa around the same time and thought they were terrible. The best show I ever saw was Jetho Tull...both times.
