NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Hundreds of bottles of Jack Daniel's whiskey, some nearly 100 years old, may have to be poured down the drain.
Tennessee state alcohol agents seized 2,400 bottles late last month in raids in Nashville and Lynchburg, the town where Jack Daniels is distilled. Officials say the whiskey was being sold by unlicensed dealers. They're also looking into whether some of the Jack Daniels had been stolen from the distillery.
A Canadian who promotes Jack Daniels on his blog says "Punish the person, not the whiskey."
The head of the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission says, while it would kill her, state law requires them to pour out whiskey that cannot be sold legally in the state, such as bottles designed for sale overseas and those with broken seals.
One collector says the bottles of whiskey "are priceless."

Can the Governor issue an executive order or something to prevent this? They could auction the bottles off for charity or something.

That was my first thought, but who ever heard of some pin head bureaucrat having a brain?

Tamar,
There is a HUGE difference between sake and “good whiskey”, it’s kinda like comparing an apple to an orange, a Yugo to a Chevy, a carp to walleye....

Tam,
Do you know what’s in Soju? besides sake, it has pheyrmaldehyde. WOW! does that bring back memories, Operation Bear Hunt R.O.K. 1988.
That stuff does some weird stuff to ya, numbness, tingling, memory loss, but whoa that was fun. To be a young dumb Jarhead again.

Have the Governor declare the bottles of Jack Daniels “art treasures” ... that aught to do it! You can’t have state employees destroying art!

besides sake, it has pheyrmaldehyde. I"ve heard that too when I lived in Korea. They claimed it was in the milk as well. I don't know if that's true or not. LOL! I buy this stuff...
