For Mohammad, it was all about slitting the animals throat and letting it drown in it's own blood. Mohammad knew Jews did this, but he didn't know why. But Mohammad didn't just copy what the Jews were doing, he had to do it "better", So extra gruesomeness was in order, plus a better name. "Halal" it is called.
