Military Appreciation Monday

November 12, 2007

For the past 6 years, Golden Corral has been honoring the US Military with a free “thank you” dinner and beverage at any Golden Corral restaurant on Military Appreciation Monday (first Monday after Veteran’s Day). This year, Golden Corral has designated Monday, November 12, 2007, from 5 to 9 pm, to honor any person who has ever served in the United States Military.

From the first Military Appreciation Monday in 2001 to the present, Golden Corral has donated 1.5 million free “thank you” meals and $1.9 million dollars to the Disabled American Veterans.

Between November 1 and November 12, 2007, the Disabled American Veterans Organization will accept contributions to be used in the local and state DAV chapters.

If you do not want the free meal, go to the GC and donate the cost of the meal to the DAV.

also, go to the link above and see the other things the GC is doing for the vets. (Christmas cards and an essay contest for Vets and their familys.

They are, but all vets should use extreme caution. Be aware you could get run over while standing at the feeding trough by some fatty lookin for mo chicken.

For me, it is their great meat loaf. Put it between the rolls and eat as a sandwich.

Their Fillet Mignon is super. too.

I love Golden Corral!

They don’t have any in Minneapolis - but when I’m in Florida, I eat at the one in Fort Myers.

You’re right about their food. Definitely top notch.

I wonder how many drifters and street people who are not ex military will try to cash in on this?

I try to stay away from GC because I can’t get past the bread but if ours are doing this I will just have to “suffer” and eat out there this week:’)

Military fakes.

At my nephews funeral some nut dressed as a decorated colonel in the marines.
F.B.I. arrested his ass.
Don’t crash and fake nothing at a marines funeral.

I put it into chat for fear that the mods would delete it.

Watch out, they may lure you in and give you C-Rats and MRE’s. It would be cool if they served us in divided tin trays and brown melmite cups. Take the first dozen on line and give them KP.

Funny you mentioned that. I was looking at their web site, and saw they had breakfast.

Now, my favorite b-fast is SOS. I got to wondering if they served SOS.

Civilians do not know what SOS is. My ex thought it was chipped beef on toast (with peas in it...YUCK). I would tell her it was hamburger in a white gravy, served on toast. She thought I was crazy.

Eat military SOS in the morning, and you are good to go all day long.

Local restaurant serves biscuits and gravy with sausage instead of hamburger, but it aint the same.

Basic training, Ft. Ord:
I came in from the field and collapsed in my bunk..Slept the night
0500 Fall out for reveille. I am still dressed, including boots caked in dust.
1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th Platoon fell out for chow (I was in the 3rd platoon.) OPEN RANKS !!!! Oh crap, an inspection, perhaps the LT. won’t see my boots.

LT faces me and says “Mitchell, what is that s*** on your boots?” My answer did not endear me to him, I said “Camouflage, Sir?”

Pulled KP for a week.

SOS is Chopped meat, milk, flour, garlic powder, salt, pepper and a jab of worchester sauce. That should do it. I may have missed something like beer, but I never used it.

I’m not a big lover of buffets, but I do frequent GC because of their practice of serving Vets. Plus, they are very clean and a top drawer organization.
