Patriots complain about crowd noise

The NFL is looking into allegations that the Indianapolis Colts piped in noise during the game Sunday between the Colts and the Patriots. The charge comes after Patriots President Jonathan Kraft became the latest NFL team executive to accuse the Colts of the distracting tactic that is against the rules. "We're aware of it and we're looking into it," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Monday. "It may just be the TV feed from CBS, but we're checking it out." Observers at the game said there seemed to be a "skip" in the sound during the game Sunday, which the Patriots won 24-20. That might confirm the long-held suspicion among many people in the NFL that the Colts play loud crowd noise to help distract opponents when the other team is on offense. "We're aware of the accusations, but there has never been anything to substantiate it," Aiello said. A Patriots spokesman said Monday the team plans no formal protest to the league. Kraft approached NFL Vice President of Security Milt Ahlerich after Kraft and his parents, Patriots owners Bob and Myra Kraft, left the Patriots locker room after the game. Kraft was angry as he told Ahlerich the league needed to look into the allegation. Ahlerich is the same person who confiscated a videotape made by the Patriots during a game against the New York Jets in Week 2 that led to the Spygate controversy. In addition, New England quarterback Tom Brady also commented on how loud it was in the RCA Dome. "I don't know how you measure levels of being deaf, but we couldn't hear anything out there," Brady said. This is the latest in a string of incidents between the teams that have fueled the growing Colts-Pats rivalry. In the past, Colts General Manager Bill Polian has vehemently argued that the Patriots have bent the rules in terms of use of replay challenges and the pass interference rule.

Actually I think the Washington Redskins cheated a bit in that last game with New England. What I mean is that touchdown Washington scored in that 52-7 game was bush league and totally undeserved. How dare Washington stand in the way of what was sure to be a 70-0 victory? But no, even though Washington KNEW they were going to lose, they go ahead and play defense and send their offense into the end zone for one totally inconsequential touchdown. I mean, what is the point?

No doubt...as far as I was concerned, his career was over. The Pats could have won that game if he hadn’t dropped that ball...and it WAS right in his hands, nobody near him.

I don’t wish him any ill will or anything, but good gosh. I sure am glad they didn’t bring him back after that.

Oh, sorry. It was a generic “your” comment. “...and you who you are...”

True...not a playoff game. You know that. I know that. The Patriots know that, and the Colts know it too.

But I am sure, as Peyton Manning pounded the ground, that he wasn’t thinking the season was lost either.

But it was a show of emotion more befitting the cute little toddler than Brady’s rather bland statement...I’m going to have to steal that picture...:)

" I think every team will push the rules as far and as hard as they can."

Remember after last years AFC Championship game ?--there were reports that the Colts cranked up the heat in the Dome because a lot of the Pats players were suffering from the flu, and the extra heat took a toll on them.--EVERY team pulls stuff, anyone who thinks otherwise is woefully ignorant and needs to get a clue.

even with the referees making non-existent interference calls against them

Puh-leeze! And I suppose all the penalties against Dallas during the Pats/Cowboys game were legit? Let me give you a clue ... YES! And so were the ones called against the Pats on Sunday.

Even the analysts agreed the calls were poor and the NFL does review those tapes and fines referees if blatant mis-calls are made. Watch and see if any thing comes down.

Sorry - it wasn’t even close. The call on Hobbs was completely ridiculous - he already had excellent position on Reggie Wayne and was looking for the ball as he had every right to do. The call against Moss was even worse. And the non-call against the Colts when Faulk was clearly interfered with was a disgrace. The refs missed badly on the inbounds call that Belichick successfully challenged. Other than that, they had a great day. Maybe all that piped-in crowd noise bothered them.
