Fellow FReepers,
I have already asked many of you to cast a vote for me in the RacingJunk.Com Sponsorship Giveaway and now, if I can, I'd like to ask the same of all the other FReepers here.
I am one of thirty racers with a shot at winning 15K in this.
The voting runs from October 15th to November 15th.
There is a signup process but it is FREE and pretty easy to negotiate through.
The website is www.racingjunk.com:
My name is Gene Hinders, I have the blue Ford Fairmont w/silver flames on the hood. I'd appreciate you taking the time and effort in casting a vote for me.
We have the decals of the Proud Patriots, Move America Forward, and Wounded Warrior Project on the car as we are trying to raise the awareness of these great Pro-Troop organizations to people that may not have heard about them.
Thank You.
Gene Hinders

We may have helped on the launch, let’s see how you do on the top end. :)

shbox....we raced at Atlanta back in '05 I believe it was, the NMCA event there is usually in September, we're hoping to make it back there in '08 if they have it on the schedule again...and as far as a 'purge-shot' the kit is in the garage but not yet installed.
You mean you pull the front wheels WITHOUT spraying??? I hear ya...
My buddy is the one that races the FFW. He caused a big stir a few years back. He is actually running a Mazda truck. Its been gutted so much that all indications are gone but still....they had a big stink about him winning in a Mazda. He still runs that truck.

Oh yeah...she'll carry'em out 40 to 50 feet or so. Lots of torque!! We're going to dyno the engine on Saturday!!
They'll let Focus's run but squawk about a Mazda truck...
I ran a FFW back in '98...we won three out of four races they had that weekend plus the 'Gallop for the Gold' deal they ran. On the last time-trial eveyone that wanted to put an index on the window and at the end the one closest to his index on that pass won half the pot...it was worth a few hundred bucks to win for one pass...I was the first car out and ran a 10.491 off of our 10.49 index. It was great!

We'll have to see what we can do about turning it around, been out of the north for three days!
It's cold too.

Further south, almost Corpus Christi.
Used to have a pretty decent track there, but the Navy took it back. (It was their runway.) :)

Hello people!! Been a busy weekend for us...we went and "dyno'd" the engine this weekend to make sure it didn't get wounded in the carnage we had a few weeks ago that took ou the rearend, the driveshaft, and the transmission......and to see how much HorsePower we were making and figure out some tuning decisions. Here's the rundown:
570 Hp and 486 Tq.....
Now I was hoping for 600 horses but it was still enough to run in the 10.30's at just over 130 mph this season, so I guess it is was it is. We should have used a less octane fuel for my compression ratio and the guy running the dyno says that could have affected the outcome. We have the engine up at the machine shop (Midnight Maching) where we'll have the heads milled a touch to gain some compression/power for next season. My goal with this combo is still to run in the 10's but I'd like to be in the 10 teens to 10 twenty's instead of the 10.30 to 10.50 range....after that we'll get REAL aggresive with the camshaft again. We're still running a CompCans Extreme Street grind cam in this combo. It was fun and we learned alot!! The timing affects this combo WAY more than jets did (varying the timing by four degrees either way kills the power and torque) and running it warmer than normal KILLS the power too...If we're on a greasy track we can keep the launch working well by dropping the launch rpm down to the low 4000 range where the torque is slightly less that the high 4000 to low 5000 range we normally launch at. Running the engine on the dyno reaffirmed alot of things we thought we new about the car/combo...Now if only all the other stuff wasn't in pieces we'd be set!! Thanks for all the help and support here folks!!!!!!! Gene

It was a good learning experience for sure!!
Basically, everythings pretty cool with the motor but we’re going to coax some more power out of it for next year.
I can sometimes get long-winded ;)
