And if you get it down to zero, you'll die. Think about it. I take the stuff too, but I'm not at all convinced that there is any correlation between cholesterol levels and incidence of heart attack. Google cholesterol+heart+attack+correlation and you will see that there is considerable debate about this, and remember that only one side of the debate has a financial interest. This doesn't make them wrong. I'm just observing.

You're absolutely right. Cholesterol is only an indicator of other, as of yet undiscovered, factors involved with heart disease. Lowering cholesterol in an effort to reduce heart disease is like sucking the mercury out of a thermometer to make the temperature go down.
Lower cholesterol, by itself, does not reduce the risk of heart attack.
