Poor situational hitting, in essence. And inconsistency. The Sox have done this all year: they beat the crap out of the ball for a couple of games, then the bats fall silent. It doesn’t help to have Nancy Drew in the lineup, either.

Hey, I like Tito and what he has done for the team. But folks around here are looking for a scapegoat other than Gagne. All I have heard the last few days other than Gagne should vanish is “ How could Tito have put him in there?? “
I was floored to see Gagne take the mound myself.

When you can throw ground balls you are never that far out of an inning. He’s getting DPs because his ball is sinking and the Sox cannot do anything more than beat the ball into the ground.
Sox have had chances but killed themselves on the bases with 3 DPs.

Yeah, this ump is not so much with the good, more with the bad.

He had no one left though. Schilling screws the pooch and is out in the 5th inning. That means you are moving everyone up two innings. In an extra inning game without a real long relief guy things get rather limited. If he had any faith in Gagne then he’s in there before Papelbon.

Did the announcers talk about his poor grading? My wife seems to think that they did.
Anyone hear that?
