Sox had a few really good ABs that last inning but couldn’t close the deal. For those of us who watch the Sox last inning was a pretty familiar turn of events.

Manny doesn't run out of the box when he hits a fly ball, whether it's a home run or not. He only runs on grounders. And the ball did not bounce straight up or back, it bounced forward. The yellow home run line extends slightly beyond the top of the wall in Cleveland, which is unusual. In any case I wish to hell it had been a home run, given the fact that the Sox can't seem to score runs any other way right now.

Plus it matters not what Manny thought. It was a home run with absolutely no doubt. A ball off the wall can not bounce up. It is a physical impossibility. You're correct. the ball's path after impact by going up in the air indicates the ball hit the top of the fence.
The grainy replay that FOX showed of Manny's hit was not conclusive.

Beckett, Lofton, Manny.... the Red Sox are looking pretty bush league tonight.

Those who can’t understand that a ball bouncing up has hit the top of the wall and is therefore a home run are the greatest evidence of the failure of our public schools. Its simple physics. < /sarcasm>

Beckett is dealing. He has done his job. Unfortunately, the umpires have not done theirs nor have the Red Sox hitters. Too many wasted opportunities.

Beckett Ks Cabrera after a seeing eye hit by Sizemore and a fielding misplay by the Sox. Luck and the base ball gods are in the Indians' corner.
Beckett has to keep it up to overcome the Red Sox gremlins.
