NOTES: This is the first time since the start of the three division era that the two LCS series have each matched the two best records in their league (96-66). Computer baseball sim Imagine Sports/Diamond Mind Baseball ran the 2007 ALCS 1,000 times, and the Red Sox won 59% of the time. If the Red Sox won game 1, they won the series 72.5% of the time, and if Cleveland won, the Indians won 59% of the time.
I can imagine the grief he will get from his teammates....
Then again, she’s really pretty.
Let me get this straight. You are a member of FR and you buy into what the mediots report in their headlines?
Really?
Were confident every day. It doesnt matter. Were not going to give up. Were going to play the game and move on. If it doesnt happen, who cares? Theres always next year. Its not like its the end of the world.Weve been in this situation before. Weve got a great team over here. The other side, theyre playing great, theyre pitching the way they should and theyre coming through with big hits. What can you do, man? You just think about Thursday. You come and play hard, and its not over yet.
Hey, anything is possible. Weve been behind, but were going to keep playing the way weve been playing all year long with some confidence. Were going to go and have fun, and lets see whats going to happen.
Its good (to have postseason records) but if I would have known that I was going to be in the World Series and not have those records, Id give them up in a heartbeat. Who cares about records, man?
--Manny
He’s putting up sick postseason numbers. Maybe if his teammates felt the same way they might have loosened up and hit the ball a few times??
I’m just poking fun of this whole “Manny” thing. Manny is too easy a of a target for the MSM to create some controversy that involves Manny.
Uh, yeah... riiiight...
Josh has nothing to be ashamed of by the looks of things.....
The same day Beckett starts?
O-----K... Something smells.
There is a lot to read between the lines.

NEW DEAL IMMINENT?
Joe Torre just landed here, in what could be the surest sign that a new deal with the Yankees brass is imminent.
Announcement expected in next hour...
Could also be giving him the ax.
The Yankees annual drama is getting so old. Torre is no better than an abused spouse who keeps coming back for more because the perks are nice. If he had any self worth he would tell Cashman and Co to screw.
Manny's can talk the talk because he walks the walk! Reading his comments reminds me of the scene in "Fever Pitch" where the doofus Sox fans are driving themselves nuts over the game 3 debacle in the '04 ALCS. Then they see Varitek, Nixon and Damon doing real life things (eating dinner, clearly a plot trick, ball players usually get fed in the clubhouses) and realize that baseball is a GAME and that, if the Sox lose tonight, the sun will still rise in the east come tomorrow morning.
and if they lose tonight,
Torre turns down Yankees 1 year offer of $5 million base pay plus $1 million bonus for each round of playoffs.
Good for Joe if reports are true that he said no!!!
I would have told them to kiss my ass days ago. Joe has “F You” money. This was the time to cash in on that. Instead, the Yanks stabbed him in the back like they did Buck Showalter over his contract. They told all the media outlets that it was a done deal. They want Joe to look like the bad guy for turning down an offer that he already agreed to.
yeah I had heard on 4 pm news of the offer and now I read
(here and elsewhere) he turned it down:
>>New York Yankees manager Joe Torre rejected a contract offer to return in 2008, CBS 2 HD has learned, a decision that will likely send shockwaves through a large majority of the Yankees fan base who have voiced their desire to keep the beloved manager for another season.
Torre was offered a one-year contract believed to be worth $5 million with an option for 2009.
“It’s a difficult day,” general manager Brian Cashman said.
They can try but anyone with half a brain (have to leave room for the Yankee fans) will understand Joe’s decision to move on.
Joe did his business with class and I wish him the best.
His departure allows the Yankees to move in a new direction but I could easily see them losing Rivera, Posasa and Pettite. All are respected veterans on that team. If A-Rod jumps ship then they are a 3rd place team in 2008. In 2009 they win the WS given their young pitching and players coming up from the minors to go with Cabrera and Cano and likely free agent pick ups over the next two years.
