Bottom of the 11th: Indians 2, Yankees 1 (PRONK'S WALK-OFF RBI DEFEATS EVIL EMPIRE IN GAME 2)

Another inning, another promising start for the Indians. Yankees pitcher Luis Vizcaino walked Kenny Lofton to start the inning. After twice failing to put down a sacrifice bunt, Franklin Gutierrez singled to left with Lofton stopping at second. Casey Blake then moved both runners up a base with a successful sacrifice bunt. The Yankees intentionally walked Grady Sizemore to load the bases with one out. With Asdrubal Cabrera at the plate, the Yankees brought their infield in, hoping to stop Lofton at third from scoring on a ground ball. Cabrera instead popped up a 2-2 pitch just in front of the plate that was caught by Shelley Duncan for the second out. Indians designated hitter Travis Hafner worked the count full and drove a fastball into right centerfield to score Lofton and win the game.

I remember as a kid after we moved out to Euclid, those bugs dive-bombing us in the backyard on hot summer nights and we would try to shoot them down with the gardenhose.

I used to live about 15 minutes from Euclid, we had the same problem.

A couple of months ago when those darn bugs were out they dropped dead here at Key Center. You should have seen all of the lake gulls enjoying their meals.

I was just in Vegas (left Wednesday). I went into one of the casino’s sports bars, and now I don’t remember the odds for the Indians winning it all. I believe they were the third team listed. Does anyone know a site that lists the odds?

I dunno, I don’t gamble, I have bad luck on that lol. Hopefullt the Tribe goes all the way so I can finally see them in the Series, since I missed 95 and 97.

That was quite a ride in ‘95 and ‘97. I’ve never seen anything like it.

Westbrook was 4-1, 1.90 ERA in August, so he can pitch well, and you don’t know what you’re getting from broken down Clemens.

Babe Ruth has left the building. Relax. You guys got this in the bag if you stay focused. Don’t give the Yanks a second wind. Just keep hammering them.

I think it’s “trepidatious,” but don’t quote me on it.

I know that feeling though. Viscerally.

I was visiting Cleveland during the ‘97 series and we watched Game 6 at the Rock Bottom Brewery at the Flats and the infamous Game 7 at Flannery’s downtown.

That spurt ended in September, of course, but I get your point regarding the fact that he CAN (the question being whether he WILL).

I have to hope the offense can open up on Clemons.

I was asleep but saw it this morning. That hit was a MONSTER.

Amazing...Manny scored as many runs in one swing as the Angels have scored in 19 innings in the series, and one less than the Yankees have scored in their series. Two teams who have won the World Series in the last eight years, seven runs between them (in 38 innings).
