They showed the Atkins HR repeatedly and it clearly hit a wheelchair in the stands. As we were robbed of that run, it is only right that we won in the end. I have also watched the replay at home with Holiday and I believe he touched home plate. I think the fact that the catcher dropped the ball made a difference in the call, too. It was like a cloud of dust at home- I don’t see how instant replay would have helped there. Atkins HR, however, was easy for all to see (except for the umps!).
I just hope we have some pitchers left after tonight!

How did the umps miss that Atkins HR call???? If the ball had hit the yellow pad, it drops to the ground or bounces back a bit, because it is padded. That ball ricocheted like a rocket. It obviously hit a very hard surface in order for it to bounce back like that. So, whether the ump missed the later call at home plate in the bottom of the 13th, it never should have come to that, and if the Padres would have won, their victory would have been shrouded in controversy, as well. BTW - I have no dog in this hunt. My team (Reds) have long been eliminated. :-(
