Having Company? Guess Which Guest Kitty Will Like Best ...

Does your cat always seem to end up in the lap of the one visitor to your home who's allergic? Or maybe it's the one visitor who doesn't like cats? Why is it that, very often, your cat-loving visitors get passed over for the one person who doesn't want to interact with Fluffy?

Most cats are friendly to everyone who comes through the front door, but other cats are very concerned with potential territorial intrusion. These cats don't necessarily want somebody barging right over to pick them up and interact. So while your cat-loving visitors may be just trying to be friendly, the act of reaching down to pet or pick up your cat before the cat's had time to investigate this unfamiliar person can cause your cat to back away.

The cat-avoiding visitor, however, makes no move toward the cat, and usually avoids eye contact. That may actually allow the kitty to feel comfortable enough to come closer for an investigation of this stranger. As the cat inches closer to sniff the visitor's shoes, the visitor makes no overtures. This is another indication to the cat that there is no immediate threat. The cat may then jump onto the couch, sit next to the visitor, and continue to check her or him out.

If YOU have a cat who's suspicious of strangers, tell your guests to let the cat set the pace! As always, it's just at matter of looking at things from your cat's point of view, and learning to ... Think Like a Cat!

We got a new cat today.

That is backwards... The cat got some new people today.

I think the cat wishes she’d got fewer people, and no Senior Cat resident!

He said he was traumatized: "It was HORRIBLE! It was coming right toward my face... and it was WINKING at me!!!"

OMG - that's the funniest things I've read all day!! When his heart-rate returned to normal, did you calmly explain that, to a cat, there's no greater compliment than exposing the nether parts for admiration? :-)

The lump beast sleeps not, not when she can MAKE others sleep first.

We go in frequently enough, like a tag team event ... in-and-out ...glad to have been there for a special event and have great meal ...ever so glad to get home again. But I have to say, of all the cities I’ve been in, I feel safest in Boston for some reason. And I go back to the days of the ‘real’ Combat Zone.

As soon as the owners leave, give the cat a bath.

After dried and groomed in the clothes dryer…

… teach her to fetch, roll over and shake hands.

Dress her up in some cute outfit as a reward. She’ll love it

You can tell. She’ll spit a hairball up on your antique oriental.

This chart will be helpful. Print it out and keep it handy on your fridge.

Oh, and if you’re real friends of the owners, have them schedule a vet appointment and take the cat in to get her shots. Jes tryin’ to help. Good luck. ;-P

Yea - you think she is cute and innocent in that pic. Well, let me tell you she is NOT as innocent as she looks! The Sappanator is quite the handful!

She eats like an elephant, loves to play "gotcha", but she is a cutie and knows it! 8) This kitten was 3 lbs when I bought her and our first meal together landed her in her carrier! She attacked me for MY food. The grunt of the liter with two bigger brothers. She now weighs over 10 lbs. and her tail is at least as long as her body.

A Standish Maine Coon kitty!

PS - do you know how to size pics?

And sometimes you may have to "over"lighten the photo in an editor ... compressing it can make it even darker. ;)

Thanks Daffynition - I started to study HTML in an old job but I don’t so much need it now as a treasurer of a small town. I’ll look at your posted site tomorrow. 8)

I know this is out of subject, but I need to add a HAPPY VETERANS DAY as I don’t post often. I saw the pic of my terror on wheels so I had to respond!

Thanks to ALL VETS for our freedoms!!!! Sane people understand that it is the SOLDIER that gives us what we need to prosper! 8)

Be glad you weren’t on the forum when you had to do your own HTML tags...
It was, humorous.

“Bold off! Bold OFF! Why won’t the *&$#!! bold shut OFF?!”
Then there were blink tags, and Marquee..
So you had italicised, blinking, bolded, scrolling text...
For most of a thread.

LOL

Well, I started to learn and have books everywhere around here, but I don't really need it now.

The bank I use to work for is still in the last century! Well, I say that, but they're trying. I'm not great at computers by any stretch but I try. 8)
