"Chicken & Waffles": Was This Olbermann's Imus Moment?
(Excerpt) Read more at youtube.com ...
Was this Overbite’s Imus moment?
He’s a Leftist. He’s exempt. I thought you knew that?
I wonder if most African-Americans would say that he is, or think him to be “exempt?”
As much as I hate Kieth Olbermann, this is ridiculous. We are quickly heading down the road where no one will be able to speak about anything anywhere as long as someone somewhere is mildly bothered. Americans are an inventive, experimental people; we are seemingly in the process of creating Stalinist-style censorship based on consensus and social preferences. God help us.
“Hes a Leftist. Hes exempt.”
My thought exactly.
However, this guy is so profoundly arrogant that he’s bound to make a gaffe as big as his ego sometime. Patience.
His hatred is painful to watch.
I’m not for censorship at all, so don’t get me wrong.
But, if Imus was fired and this was supposedly Olbermann’s Imus moment, then to keep a balance, Olbermann would have to be fired, right?
Should liberals (if they hold others to a certain standard on things (whatever it may be)) have to be held to what they hold others to?
Of course they will.
Oh, for heaven’s sake, as much as I would like to witness the public humiliation and downfall of Olbermann, this is more of a bad rip-off of Chris Berman’s nickname schtick than a racial slur.
I’m not certain if they would/will - but wouldn’t that make them hypocrites?
If they will make exceptions, then how can bridges of dialogue be built to them or by them on racial matters?
Would they just be talking with a forked tongue?
It seems that you don’t like Olbermann (maybe you don’t like him, maybe you do - I don’t know).
But it seems that you are being an apologist for him.
Only conservatives are hypocrites - haven’t you read ANY of the orientation literature?
*sigh* I’m afraid it’s back to rehab for you, Citizen...
LOL.
Oh, that literature is what I have been using in the restroom at home...
Oops!
WAIT a second - that better not be the back-issues of Maxim we keep under the sink!
What else do you keep under there?
The orientation literature I spoke of is good for wiping one’s butt with. It seems that I had been using it for that.
Will I be slated for the concentration camp now?
Excuse me? Because I realistically didn't hear a racial remark. Neither did my black girlfriend who is sitting about 8 feet behind me watching TV.
I can't stand Olbermann, but I nt his downfall to be for something legitemate not weak cheese like this non-starter.
should say "but I want"

Imus was fired for a bigoted and crude statement, the kind of which is repeated endlessly both in public and private. He was paid to do so. Firing Imus was a disgrace. His punishment should have been an audience walking away. My fear is that once we start down the road for firing people for boorish crudeness, or imagined slights, we are essentially giving up free speech voluntarily. The problem is not Imus, or even Olbermann. It goes way back, to the man who used “niggardly” at work and in context, but someone was offended. It goes back to the guy calling a girl a “water buffalo” and that being perceived as a racist statement. It goes back to the idea that any statement antagonistic to the National Organization of Women is sexist and any statement antagonistic to Jesse Jackson is racist. It goes back 20 years, when I was told by a coworker on a newspaper that anyone who opposed affirmative action hated blacks and other minorities. Just taking the time to target Olbermann for the man’s crudeness and crassness contributes to the cancer of stifling opinion and speech to fit an agenda.
I’ve already taken action after hearing Olbermann. I won’t watch the man and I call him a dunce to anyone who will listen to my opinion.
If this guy is targeted, you and I are somewhere on the list. It is dangerous stuff to play around with.
But what about the double standard?
Don't matter.
African Americans are NOT in charge of the news or editorial departments at the top media outlets of America.
Without the second-day, third-day, fourth-day, repeat, repeat, echo effect as practiced by AP, Reuters, Knight-Ridder, PBS, BCC, and CNN - a story that is bad for a liberal will simply die on the vine, as they say.
As someone who worked at two fairly large daily newspapers, I can categorically say that mainstream disseminating news outlets, such as the AP and Reuters, will NOT pick up stories that are damaging to Democrat/liberals.
And if a story fails to get repeated on the wire, it goes no where.
