On one “Don Meridith” Monday Night football game a team was playing Chicago, who had Vince Evans as their QB. Evans had thrown interceptions and fumbled the ball...causing him to be pulled from the game.
The home team’s fans (I think it was San Francisco) started chanting “We want Evans! We want Evans!” Don Meridith was cracking up...as well as the rest of the folk at our tavern.
No, I think he’s done.
Turner was hired only because San Diego needed to get as close to continuity as possible, and Norv Turner runs the same basic offense as Cam Cameron. That’s the only reason Turner is HC right now. But it’s not working, and barring a turnaround, Turner is gone. He should have stayed in San Francisco and recognized his limits: he’s a great OC, but a mediocre-at-best HC.
Wannstedt, by comparison, just rode Jimmy Johnson’s coattails to success, and then shot himself in the foot. He’s done. I’m surprised he was hired by Pitt. They must’ve been desperate for a guy who can’t scout talent and doesn’t play to win.
Finally!!!!
That Florida disaster has been a major weak link in a very good team. Every time he steps back to throw, I cringe because I know it’s always about a 1/3 chance of a catch, a 1/3 chance of incomplete and a 1/3 chance of an interception.
GO BEARS!
Then why would they put in Greise? He throws as many pics as Rex.
If they can talk ol' Bob into putting down the announcer's headset, he just might be. ;)
I really like what Mike McCarthy has done with Brett. Not since Holmgren, has any coach ever been able to keep Favre from the gunslinger mode.
He's playing smart, and has a much improved offensive line. If he continues to play the way he has for the rest of the season, this could be another MVP season.
Who would have thunk?!
"There are 3 things that can happen when you throw the football, and two of them are not good."
Half a season to late, but about time.
How anyone could have defended Wrecks Grossman LAST YEAR is beyond understanding, given his performance, or lack there of.
“I remember Vince Lombardi once making the statement about completing passes. (Perhaps it was in his book, “Run To Daylight”)
“There are 3 things that can happen when you throw the football, and two of them are not good.””
Yep Northern Yankee. That quote was going through my mind when I made my 1/3 1/3 1/3 statement, although I believe it was by Woody Hayes of Ohio State.
Either Run To Dalight, or Lombardi on Football. (Prentice Hall, 1969)
