The baseball world has been turned upside down today when perennial American League favorite Tampa Bay Devil Rays shockingly decided to change their name to the Tampa Bay Rays!

Personally, I think MLB ought to move out of Florida. Florida co-owns spring training with Arizona. Even the more successful Marlins have never been able to attract the crowds needed to support a MLB team. Arizona, at least, has an entertaining ballpark.
Florida just is not the right market for a summertime sport. No knock on Florida, just a fact.
If MLB wants to contract or move a team, Tampa is the first place they should look. Maybe they could move to Cuba when Fidel takes his long overdue dirt nap. Other possibilities are Portland, Oregon, Salt Lake City or Gander, Newfoundland.

Florida just is not the right market for a summertime sport.
Maybe by drop’n the devil name from the team, the team figures they can save money on printing, marketing, etc and use the new found revenue to bribe city and state officals to build them a new ball park with a retractable roof.

I've never been to Florida in the summer but I have been there in October.The heat and humidity in October was almost unbearable and it can only be **much** worse during the season.At least Tampa Bay has a domed stadium.IMO,Florida,Texas and Arizona are the worst possible placed to play outdoors baseball during the summer.
