Fizzie Tabs were the best...guess that they were outlawed or something.

*About 3rd grade somewhere in the 60's, as we lined up for the water fountains and then off to the restrooms we would pop a red or green Fizzie into our water filled mouth and see if we could make it to the restroom before it spewed out in a big gush.

Some kids were sent to the Nurse's Office if they spewed in the hallway.

I LOVED Fizzies!

I think they had cyclamates in them which is why they were banned. They were sweet and fizzy and although they were ok as a beverage, which is what they were meant for, they were best taken “straight!” For you youngsters out there, picture fruit flavored alka-seltzer.

They tried to reformulate fizzies without the sweetener so that you had to add sugar to the water. Just not the same. I think it became clear real fast that few kids were using them as intended.

Those were the good ole days. ;-) What were those snapping / pop things? Pop Rocks or something like that? Those were cool too.
