I have a very healthy solution for that. I got rid of cable 3 years ago. I get funny looks when I tell people I don’t have a TV.

Me either. And it’s a very stark reminder when I go to someones house to visit and see them sitting in front of it, eyes glazed over and unable to just turn it off and go.
Good for you. More should emulate. Did not have a TV in our home for 12 years while raising our 3 boys. They all have left and are now raising their own families. Like you, I finally saw the light again and banned the TV about 3 years ago.
