LOL having the puffball fur slicked down makes them look even bigger.

There are some cats that take naturally to the water. Maine Coons, I’m told, love the water. My Bombay is fascinated by it. Any time we turn on a faucet he’s right there with his nose in it. And, as the pictures above indicate, some big cats love to swim.

“I have always understood that cats could swim. Cats die in pools because they cannot climb out and become exhausted.”
I think that is the case as well.
It gets hot down here and I have tossed my cats in the pool many times. Good little swimmers who head straight for the steps. ;)

Awww, the Doberman was just being friendly (and gentle too). The poor guy looks like his feelings were hurt.

I admire all cats, big and small. I’ve seen documentaries of tigers in India who will actually swim out to take fishermen off of their boats. But, I have never imagined what a submerged white tiger in apparent attack mode would look like. Awesome!

Wow. What beautiful cats! So distinctive with that tail!

In all my years of owning cats I’ve only had one cat that absolutely craved the water. Sadie. And you couldn’t keep her out of the bathroom sink! She’d bat at the water as it came out of the faucet, she’d sleep in the sink and wait for you to turn on her ‘toy’ again! And if she got wet, she loved it! Odd one. Never took her swimming though.
To: Slings and Arrows
Yay for watur wingz kitty! Tis a far, far better thing to practice swimming than it is to sink.
To: DancesWithCats
They are gorgeous :) My cat likes to go swimming, too. That’s why we have to leave the toilet lid down.
