In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
benign \bih-NYNE\ adjective
1. of a gentle disposition; gracious *
2a. showing kindness and gentleness
2b. favorable, wholesome
3a. of a mild type or character that does not threaten health or life, especially not becoming cancerous
3b. having no significant effect; harmless
* Indicates the sense illustrated in the example sentence.
Example sentence:
Mr. Richardson was a benign man and an excellent teacher, and the children loved and trusted him instinctively.
Did you know?
"Benediction," "benefactor," "benefit," "benevolent," and "benign" are just some of the English words that derive from the well-tempered Latin root "bene," which means "well." "Benign" came to English via Anglo-French from the Latin "benignus," which in turn paired "bene" with "gignere," meaning "to beget." "Gignere" has produced a few offspring of its own in English. Its descendants include "congenital," "genius," "germ," "indigenous," and "progenitor," among others.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

Not too worry though.......dems can say whatever - it’s only us Republicans who can’t make mistakes like that. Still that is ONE good scandal brewing. LOL
I was listening to Neo’s radio thing and my first thought was that wonder bread was outed for being “white”.......LOL. CA is NUTS!
Well, yes. You should be optimistic and think she is always getting up that early for a 9:00 AM class ..... 8<)
Throw in “hillbilly” and you have the Grim family tree. :-|
robt, i texted her at 7:30 her time and she answered me back promptly. xsteen is not a layabout, she was raised with the maxim, “early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy wealthy and wise” : )
well, there’s “inbred” too....; )
..which brings me to today's word...benign
Living here over 30 years has played Russian Roulette with my fair skin...
..and it's always delightful to go for my 6 month skin check and usually hear 'benign' concerning some strange spot on my sun challenged body :)) ....
..cause I've got lovely little scars on that sun challenged body from those that weren't. :^
hey, i was in dallas last weekend, grimmy! xsteen is there now.
I’ll be there next week....annual golf/beer/food/family outing.
i was very impressed with dallas. it is a fun city. we went down and took pix on the grassy knoll, etc. Loved the shopping.
ROTFLOL! Good one.
Grimdaughter loves it, too. She’s lived there for 13 yrs.
Ben’s right as usual. I’m glad Craig is reconsidering his resignation. If he was a democrat, they’d be lined up behind him, screaming harrassment to the high heavens. I don’t think this incident warrants a resignation. Marriage counseling? Yes. Resignation? No.
Guess the xsteen ain’t inbed at 7:30 in the AM ... Or that she didn’t go to sleep waiting fer the 7:30 text message checkup.. 8<)
-wouldn’t it be hysterical to go around tapping your foot everywhere? It just makes me LAUGH! I would love to be around that cop and tap my little foot....tap, tap, tap.
