Gary P Nunn, excellent song! (What I Like About Texas), the only thing missing from that excellent video was perhaps a passing image of Buddy Holly (native son of Lubbock), who was a musical pioneer (IMHO) right up there with Bob Wills.
Thanks for the music this morning, it’s helping to salvage a rough start, but that’s another story. ;)

As a life-long Bear fan I’d like to point out that the Colts QB ...er ... whatshisname had something to do with the outcome of the Super Bowl

The Bears ate too much deep dish Chicago pizza last season and concentrated more on watching the chicks along Michigan Street than on the football.
This season, pizza gorging and chick watching will again be primary on the Bear’s schedule, as they limp through the season wounded and bloody, reflecting perfectly their namesake home - Soldier’s Field. Calls will be made to rename the stadium Bear Rug, as team after team walks over the former Monsters of the Midway.
By game 5, Wrecks Grossman will enter the field of combat with a trench shovel in hand, hoping to bury a performance even more dismal than last season.
That the Bears will lose twice to the hated Green Bay Packers has already been chiseled in stone by God. But losing twice to the Detroit Lions on last minute fumbles/interceptions by Grossman will have Chicago fans begging for the Chicago mob to dig graves to bury the remainder of the season.
The highlight of the season will be that Chicago deep dish pizzas will retain their title as the best pizzas east of the Mississippi and girl watching along Michigan Street will still be the No. 1 Chicago spectator sport, both of which the Bears will have done too much of.
On one hand the Bears did make the SB, on the other the D and Special Teams won quite a few games for them. While I didn't watch too many Bears games, the ones I saw Rex looked like crap and the SB was a huge melt down.
Rex is bad and he isn't going to get any better.
I just watched the Superbowl on NFL Channel. Rex threw a pick for a touchdown and singlehandedly turned a 2nd and 1 into 4th and 20 something by falling down and fumbling. I think the score would have been exactly the same no matter who played on your D.
I watched that last night with my wife - a HUGE Colts and Manning fanatic.
And I agree completely. Rex Grossman simply isn’t a good quarterback. He freaks out at the oddest times in games....has anyone ever fumbled as many snaps from center in a single season?
As long as he’s the QB for the Bears, that defense will never see a winning Super Bowl. Watching the game last night just reconfirmed the view I held all last year, and that I hold going into this season.
I think Roman Gabrial at one time held the record for fumbles in a single season by a QB. Last year, Tony Romo had a near mental breakdown in his playoff game and lost that game for Dallas.
A great defense can win you a Superbowl if your quarterback doesn't lose it for you. Think Dilfer and the Ravens or McMahon and the 85 Bears.

Yep, a point I tried to make with some last year...but nope, they insisted Grossman was a ‘good quarterback’.
If he was ‘competent’ the Bears would be world champs today.

Yep. Its going to be a long Thursday - Monday here in Bengals country.
We’ll known if the Bengals have finally gotten it all together by the first week of October. First two games are divisional (Ravens and Browns) then off to Seattle, then at home against the Patriots.
If we come out of the first four games 2 -2 with the wins against the AFC North rivals, the schedule is the easiest since Marvin Lewis was hired four years ago.
Lotta unrealized potential on the Bengals. Its time to step it up.

Editorial: Not a Falcons fan, but damn! - I hope Joey Harrington has a career year and the Falcons go at least 8-8 just to prove an anti-Vick point. (though I do want New Orleans to win that division...)

I was gonna say "time for the Bengals to step it up" but I thought I would be nice. No playoffs this year and Marvin probably has to go.
You hate to see a team with the offensive talent of the Bengals waste it. Kinda like the Cardinals talent wise anyway. Really good receivers, back and QB but ya go 4 years without anything significant and the studs will be looking for a new home on a winning organization.

Yep. but after that, its the easiest schedule they’ve had since Palmer was drafted.
They can’t afford to lose the home opener. If they split the month as I described up above, they are in great shape for a playoff run.
The problem is its all offense, and pathetic defense. Run defense appears ‘on paper’ to be improved, but too me its a reflection of how the games went last year, and the type of teams we played than any real ‘improvement’. Watching as they gave up 42 points in 11 minutes against San Diego....God it was ugly.
btw, even if the Bengals produced a losing record, Marvin Lewis’s job is 100% safe. Hell, he’s got the safest job in the NFL today. Remember, Mike Brown and company kept the absurd David Schula for years, despite multiple embarrassing seasons. No way they fire him, he’s got a winning record.
The guy with his head on the chopping block in Chuck Bresnahan, a underwhelming Defensive Coordinator that owes his current job to the Raiders Super Bowl OFFENSE. Bresnahan has never produced a 15th ranked or better Defense in his NFL career. As the San Diego game demonstrated quite well, he’s simply a horrible, horrible DC. Why we hired him remains a mystery here in Bengals nation.
