SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Five people were wounded when a basketball player opened fire on his opponents during a pickup game at a community park, officials said.
The incident happened Friday night after a verbal argument turned physical, and police believe gang ties may have played a role in the shooting, said Sacramento County Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Tim Curran.
Two groups of about a dozen people each met around 8 p.m on the basketball court in Churchill Downs Community Park in South Sacramento, Curran said.
Four men and one woman, all between 19 and 23 years old, were taken to area hospitals for treatment. Two of the victims were seriously injured, including one man who was shot numerous times in the chest, Curran said.
At least one of the victims is a gang member, he said.
Authorities were searching for two suspects, both males in the 20s.
"Man that wasn't no foul punk!"
(Pulls out gunn, other man says) "OK OK!! QUIT PLAYING MAN! That was a foul! You can get an extra free throw too!"
Uh, gangstas playing basketball..??Ok.
LOL /s
Dammit. Why didn’t somebody think to make that community park a gun-free zone?!
I hope the police have a better description of the suspects that the one included in this news article.
He had a Bassetball Jones?.......
Sometimes, you just gots to bust some caps.
Everyone knows that!
Best regards,
Dose this mean they will ban basketballs in parks?
But we have such progressive gun control laws in California!!!
How could this happen here?????
I see that the Clinton’s “midnight basketball” program is working out about as well as we all thought it would.
Tell me this doesn’t sound like the scene right out of “White Men Can’t Jump”, except no one got shot in the movie scene.
