"If held in contempt, Nifong faces up to 30 days in jail and a fine of up to $500."

That does not seem to be enough for what he did. I doubt he'll go to jail for contempt.

Nifong is a piece of whale excrement...you can’t get lower than he is...plus whale excrement is too good to compare him to.

It’s not but what he is going through might discourage a prosecutor from pandering to certain groups of people to advance political prospects.

Dependant upon the state laws, this could be a felony conviction if found guilty. That would have a lasting impact on his (quickly disappearing) law career.

Yeah, Nifong just tried to ruin several people’s lives by politicizing what he had to have know were false allegations. From the original article:

“I picked it up to look at it to see what it was, and when I read the affidavit, it struck me that this was a case that was going to get a lot of media attention in Durham, and that I needed to know what was going on with the case,” Nifong said.

Oh, I bet he did. Opportunist.

Even if he does it won’t be standard jail, no way he’ll be put in the general population.

You get him for contempt and then you’ve got a conviction on his record. Then you go after him for prosecutorial abuse and civil rights violations, etc.

Baby steps.

...then the civil suits remove his personal wealth, little as it may be.

He’s got a lot of court time, jail time, and judgements to go against him yet to come.

...and he’s unpopular. The people who cheered him on when he had *power* are no longer supporting him.

Very comfortable in my Duke LaCrosse T I bought from an off-campus store 6 weeks ago.

You should get one too. Feels good. Feels good.
