Will not run agaiin

Whoever replaces him, just make sure he doesn’t have a wide stance in bathroom stalls.
But, but, but....
It’s Friday.
Ollie for Senator!
Disgusting that all these Senators refuse to retire for decades, and allow other Americans a turn to serve their county.
Heh. :)
But, I wonder how the media is going to spin this one? “2 Gop Senators resigning, Is the GOP in trouble?” While the Hsu story gets bumped to the back...
Cantor, Goode, or Gilmore would all be excellent choices. So would George Allen, but the Rats, the media, and Larry Sabato have probably succeeded in rendering him (temporarily?) unelectable by manufacturing Macacagate in ‘06.

And yet another RINO exits the stage. Can’t say I am sorry to see him go. Not only is he getting long in the tooth but he seems to have been infected with the dreaded Senatorial Go along, Get along virus.
Already lost. Past news. Probably doesn’t want the paycut
No surprise here. John Warner is retiring. The question is - Mark Warner a lock on the Senate?
“But, I wonder how the media is going to spin this one? 2 Gop Senators resigning”
So then why did he choose to make his announcement today?
I find it confusing.
Whatever dirt there is on Mark Warner had better be aired soon.
We don’t know for sure if Marky Mark will run.
There was a ~reason~ he withdrew from the Presidential race. That reason is still out there.
Quite frankly, it may come down to how bloody the GOP primary is. IMHO, look for a convention, not a primary. That’s usually a bad move for us. But it would play in Jim Gilmore’s favor.
On the GOP side this will play out between Jim Gilmore and Tom Davis.
So who would be Davis’ replacement (to run that is)?
I don’t know. That would be a difficult seat for the GOP to hold.
Not so sure. The 11th district seems pretty “red” to me

Jim Gilmore has experience running statewide in VA. He was elected as Attorney General and Governor. However, VA suffered deficits in the state budget under Gilmore. Resulting in the election of Mark Warner. Marky Mark could claim that he had to fix the fiscal mess Gilmore left.
Tom Davis represents Fairfax County, a NoVA county trending Blue. Davis is sharp about political strategy. His work as NRCC chairman helped the GOP keep Congress in 2000. The problem is, he is a bit too liberal for many conservative tastes.
I heard that Tom Davis’s wife may have a go for the VA-11. The wife is currently a state legislator form that district.
Cantor has the goal to become the first Jewish Speaker of the House if and when the GOP gets back the majority.
Not exactly. You must be getting your news from The Washington Compost.
There was NEVER a budget deficit. All that happened is that the budget did not increase at the same percentage it had in previous years (and as much as the GA wanted).
However, the MSM (and Gilmore's team allowed this) spun it into a budget crisis.
Mark Warner stared into a camera and said "I will not raise taxes" and proceeded to try to do that every year until he enacted the largest tax increase in budget history.
Within weeks (perhaps days) of him signing that bill, revenue numbers were out that provided the state with a surplus that was almost identical to the size of the tax increase.
When Warner left office, his finance staff made a slight $137 million miscalcuation on the budget numbers.
It's an uphill fight. But Mark Warner is far less substantive than people think.
