910 AM AST FRI AUG 31 2007

SATELLITE IMAGES AND SURFACE OBSERVATIONS INDICATE THAT THE TROPICAL WAVE AND ASSOCIATED LOW PRESSURE AREA LOCATED ABOUT 250 MILES EAST OF THE WINDWARD ISLANDS COULD BE DEVELOPING INTO A TROPICAL DEPRESSION. AN AIR FORCE RESERVE HURRICANE HUNTER WILL INVESTIGATE THE SYSTEM EARLY THIS AFTERNOON TO CONFIRM IF A DEPRESSION HAS FORMED. WATCHES AND WARNINGS MAY BE REQUIRED FOR PORTIONS OF THE WINDWARD ISLANDS...AND ALL INTERESTS IN THAT AREA SHOULD BE READY TO TAKE QUICK ACTION...IF NECESSARY. REGARDLESS OF DEVELOPMENT... HEAVY RAIN AND STRONG GUSTY WINDS WILL SPREAD OVER THE WINDWARD ISLANDS LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT.

See - you assumed I was torqued off.

I was not, I was simply stating a different point of view. Having a family vacation home down near the beach - I like to keep and eye on the ocean during this time of year.

And being who I am/was I like to keep things running smoothly through life’s little bumps be they natural or cultural, ie riots and things. PPPPPP :-)

There are people who prepare and others who don’t.

I would say that the posters at FR fall into the first category.

We lived through Agnes in ‘72 and we weren’t on the coast. Preparedness is a good thing period. That said, I don’t mind seeing the hysterics in the MSM getting reamed :)

It seems like the last week or so on the weather channel it’s been Katrina reruns 24/7.

Everytime I clicked through it was like a circus.

I follow NautiNurse’s threads, the links in them and my own links to keep up with Hurricanes.

Every channel has been Katrina reruns. Most of them don't focus on the hurricane; they only lament how the federal government failed so shamefully. (rolls eyes)

It's like an annual funeral dirge, dragging Bush and FEMA out to rehash the racism, the horror that was perpetrated upon NOLA by evil conservatives.

TIME magazine just ran an article that began with the sentence "Katrina was NOT a natural disaster." The fact that it happened during a hurricane is irrelevant.

Ha! Good post. The local weather guys around here in central Florida were made into rock-stars during the hurricanes a couple of years ago. They’re still hanging on.

The Weather Channel said it is further South than Dean was at this time [Hurricane Dean, not DNC Dean].

It is supposedly a Tropical Depression, but really not much of anything, and hugging the South American coast will prevent much strengthening...

This is the original thread on Hurricane Felix -- it was just a Tropical Disturbance when first reported Friday morning.

The original 5 day Forecast had it only becoming a Category 1 storm.
