I've checked some of the specific stats and they seem to be accurate.

we just have to be careful...there were some illegal immigration stats going around the Net a few years ago that were claimed to have come from the L.A.Times that were as bogus as a three dollar bill.

These numbers appear to be legit or Senator Shelby has some ‘splainin’ to do. LOL

Although I would feel better if I could find the F.B.I. and/or I.N.S. link for these numbers which I haven’t been able to locate...yet.

Snopes has some of the facts. This was true:

(Any child born in the United States is considered a U.S. citizen, regardless of the parents' immigration status.) A 1997 General Accounting Office (GAO) report determined that in 1995 households headed by illegal aliens received a total of $700 million in AFDC benefits and $430 million in Food Stamps.

If they were getting OVER 1.1 BILLION over 10 YEARS AGO, can you imagine how much money they get now?!!!???!!!
