KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A husband is accused of pushing his ill wife off the balcony of their apartment building.

Cristie Reimer, 47, was found dead on the sidewalk Tuesday night after a fall from her fourth-floor apartment in the 4900 block of Wornall Road. Her husband, 51-year-old Stanley Reimer, was charged with second-degree murder. On Thursday, he pleaded not guilty in federal court.

My first thought as well! Second Degree? Are they saying it happened at the spur of the moment, with no prior planning or thought? I find that difficult to believe. He should be sentenced to being tossed off the same balcony. If he survives, he won’t get the death penalty.

Very sad. I grieve for that family. It looks like her condition and medical bills were a constant strain on her husband.

While I do not condone what he did, I am very sorry for them.

"Stanley Reimer told police he was having financial difficulties because of his wife's medical condition. He also told police he walked his wife to the balcony Tuesday night, kissed her, picked her up and threw her off."

That's premeditated first degree murder, open and shut. He planned it, and did it.

2nd degree murder is one question (although they appear to have been arguing).

From a CONSERVATIVE question, why the HELL was he pleading in FEDERAL court?

Murder is a state crime, last time I checked. Was this on an Indian reservation or something?

He should have let her starve to death; he’d have become a liberal hero and gotten an Oprah book award.

There was malice, forethought, deliberation and pre-meditatin here from the sounds of it. The classic defn of murder in the first.

Watch his loy-iz try to spin it into a mercy killing so he can first or second degree manslaughter.

The best way to search is to look for the least common word in the headline that is likely to be used in a related story. Here, I did a search on balcony. Of course, I might have missed some, but I found a couple.

Also note that articles about Clinton are generally listed with the keyword “PIAPS”

His lawyers will go for that in an instant, especially after he admitted to the police that he did it.

I just can't believe the prosecutor didn't immediately go for murder one, so that he could bargain down to a plea of murder two to avoid going through court.

the lawyers will usually drop it down if there is any question. when you say he planned it, had he been planning it for three months, or three minutes. it makes a difference, i guess. he’ll plead out anyway. there will be no trial here, imo.

Mr. X is forever complaining that I am the chief source of all of his “financial difficulties”, so I’m going to be stepping lightly from now on...otherwise, it may be the one way elevator for me!

Sorry, but after the avalanche of “socialized medicine could have saved this couple” stories from yesterday, I just think it’s absurd. This guy killed a defenseless woman in a truly cruel way. 1st degree murder, and he and his excuses can go to hell.
