SCO Group Inc. does not own the copyright to Unix operating-system software, as it had claimed, and Novell Inc. is the proper owner, U.S. District Judge Dale Kimball said in a filing in federal court in Utah. SCO Group had sued Novell in 2004 for falsely claiming ownership of Unix.
In 2003, SCO Group filed a high-profile lawsuit against International Business Machines Corp. for contributing code to Linux open-source software that it said included some of SCO's Unix-related intellectual property. SCO claimed to have purchased rights to Unix from Novell in 1995.
That 2003 suit against IBM which has not been resolved, raised questions about the potential for other Linux proponents, such as distributor Red Hat Inc. to face similar legal claims

What are you tlaking about, I posted facts and you remain silent..
See said retard’s ever witty reply in #20. Quod est demonstrandum.
After hundreds of people have patiently and helpfully tried to ‘splain to mr. eagle the facts of life- or facts of anything, for that matter- he exerts every miniscule electron of what remains of his ever dwindling supply of brain cells to illustrate his ever decreasing IQ and knowledge. That’s why I posted my comment, as spending hours reiterating facts and trying to break down simple concepts into small enough pieces that his stunted brain could absorb, it just gets to be a greater undertaking than any sane human being would want to suffer. Evidence this fact by the vast number of similar sentiments regarding mr. GE from others who have been pushed past their tolerances by his obtuseness.
Please be aware that I did NOT intend it to be an ad hominum attack, only just a factual presentation of his entire lack of mental acuity. Guess he is the poster boy for long term imbibing of the MS kool-aid.
I know he couldn’t be employed by MS, as even they have standards of intelligence for hiring. I doubt sincerely that they would entertain just keeping him around for a pet, either. So much upkeep and aggravation for so little entertainment value.
Obviously Bertrand Russell couldn’t have known GE personally, but I don’t doubt that he had to have been intimately acquainted with some of GE’s multiple inbred ancestors- hence his quote in my tagline.
#8^D
So I have learned to just ignore the Brass Buzzard. But i do read his posts just for the entertainment value.
Supporting American originals over foriegn clones obviously isn't dumb. Those of you that support radical green party moonbats like Richard Stallman, and his plans to put all US software companies out of business and replace it with socialized software are who need their heads examined.
More insults from you of course, yet still no justification why you support socialized software for the world over US businesses which currently dominate the sector. Those American software companies are all evil right? Microsoft is “the great Satan” right? That’s what whacko leftists post all over the internet, and you sound just like them.
The facts are Linux has destroyed US software companies, just as it was designed to do, but thankfully companies like Apple and Sun are now making a resurgence. A decade ago it was predicted to wipe Unix out of the server room, but even IBM still sells Unix today, in big numbers. A couple years ago Linux was expected to surpass Apple in desktop share, but now that a lot of people have actually tried it out and realize it’s crap it’s desktop share is actually falling according to web counters. Yes I know you prefer junky foreign clones over their superior American orginals, but most don’t.
And created others (RedHat, RaidZone, Linksys) every new technology destroys companies, how many companies did MS destroy? Netscape anyone?
thankfully companies like Apple and Sun are now making a resurgence.
Yup I'm glad for it as well, but remember Apple was hurt by *MICROSOFT* not Linux. SCO (The real SCO) Sold off its business before Monterrey ended they quit on IBM.
ROFL! Linksys didn't require Linux to exist, they're a hardware company to begin with and typically use something else in most of their products anyway. No wonder since the green party freaks you support decended on them threatening lawsuits for using the "free" software.
I'm glad for it as well
LOL get real, Solaris and OSX are still closed operating systems, you obviously like fully open ones that communists can rename and resell as "Red Flag" without a dime back to the developers, even run your own ping list for products like that.
Linksys found a place in the market because they had a free network operating systems (and webserver, and ftp server, .... ) Handed to them if not for that they would still be a niche maker of cheap hardware. The owners would not be nearly as wealthy with cysco money.. BTW Another company that got its start because of Linux was Caldera, what are they called today?
LOL get real, Solaris and OSX are still closed operating systems
Solaris yes, apple... well most of the fun parts are but whats your point, you are unable to find a single post in my posting history where I say I am against closed source software, I have challenged you so many times I lose count but yet *nothing*.
you obviously like fully open ones
I also own and like Mac's hell if we don't count Xen on my one linux box Apple outnumbers Linux at my house. And Ill be first in line when 10.5 comes out later this year.. Again you spend more time accusing people of outrageous things than you do listening to them..
ROFL very few Linksys products used Linux and now even the standard wrt54g uses vxworks instead of Linux too. Linux fanbois are such a joke, you comparing Linus Torvalds to Ben Franklin yesterday is another hilarious example.
comparing Linus Torvalds to Ben Franklin yesterday is another hilarious example.
Never did any such thing, and Ill thank you not to thread hop..
No, and any sane person could see what I was saying... You don't hold the Son responsible for the sins of the father and you don't hold a father responsible for the sins of a sun. You're guilt by family association was a favorite tactic of chairman mao himself..
For the record if Im wrong regarding Lynksys so be it, that does not invalidate the point that Linux has helped many an American business start.
Google, RedHat, Countless ISP’s, RaidZone, Digium, ...
Oh yea, one more Caldera... now whats their current name right now?
And created others, and breathed new life into yet others. New products tend to cause casualties in the old market. Such is capitalism. Unless you're saying you don't believe in capitalism.
A decade ago it was predicted to wipe Unix out of the server room, but even IBM still sells Unix today, in big numbers.

Yes I know you prefer junky foreign clones over their superior American orginals, but most dont.
So says the troll to the person typing this on a Mac! And not even with the GPL-cored Safari, but Firefox. I have never had Linux as my main system.
Yes I believe in capitalism, not the socialized plan to move everyone to free software and destroy US software companies like “the father of free software” you endlessly defend. He wants us to pay a “software tax” instead, and quote “make proprietary software obsolete”, just like his followers.
You’re simply not believable, you usually claim you’re a .net programmer too, but spend all your time bashing Microsoft, defending foreign criminals who hack OSX to run on generic PC’s, defending copyLEFT, etc.
Their routers were their hottest-selling product, and those routers ran Linux.
As far as VXWorks, you appear to be implying something that isn't true -- that Cisco decided it didn't like Linux, especially because of the settlement. The FACT is that VXWorks is an RTOS that can requires half the RAM and half the flash of Linux, saving Cisco manufacturing costs for the WRT54G.
To confirm that it is not a philosophical issue, after the switch Cisco released the WRT54GL with Linux and the previous amount of memory.
