Public officials in Minnesota had been warned that increasing truck traffic from international trade was placing an undue stress on the state's transportation infrastructure, including specific warnings concerning the now-collapsed bridge over the Mississippi on Interstate 35W in Minneapolis.
As WND reported, a Federal Highway Administration study begun in 1998 warned increased NAFTA truck traffic would endanger Minnesota bridges along I-35.

Despite the source (Corsi), this is still troublesome.

Its Clintons fault! As WND reported, a Federal Highway Administration study begun in 1998 warned increased NAFTA truck traffic would endanger Minnesota bridges along I-35.
Actually, from this article, the study identifying the problem began under the Clinton Administration.
All this NAFTA crap started under Bush the Elder anyways. Ross's heart was in the right place but his "great sucking sound south" prediction never conjured up the actual great gushing of crap and migrants coming north.

Do you think the report is not valid to bring up or that WND is lying about what it says?

I believe the national motor truck association statistics would show that domestic, not “nafta” truck traffic has increased tenfold since 1998 (there is no such thing ad ‘nafta’ trucking anyway) FHA “created” “nafta” trucking by bending over to the teamsters and calling all non-union hauling “nafta freight”

Increased traffic whether cause by NAFTA or economic factors impact all transportations systems that they use whether they be highways, rail, air ports, maritime, etc. Goods will flow across this country via some transportation method whether Corsi likes it or not and they will cause wear and tear on the systems. No big boggy man causing this effect.

The real question is: Did the State or Federal governments provide funds for that bridge's upkeep/maintenance, and if so, was the money spent for that reason, or diverted to something else?

It’s such a shame WND must be excerpted. This should’ve been posted in its glorious entirety.

Bearing in mind that Corsi is a political science professor (and a former FReeper), if there was any doubt that he's using his faculties to whip people into a frenzy and buy his book (autographed copies just $19.99), there shouldn't be any longer.
He's the Ron Popeil of investigative journalism.

Increasing traffic from international trade placed undue stress on Minneapolis span Scrappleface couldn't have made this any more hilarious. What's even funnier is the author is really trying to be serious. A new low for WND.
