"Logic!" said the Professor half to himself. "Why don't they teach logic at these schools?"

Well, it's just the second episode, but we're enjoying it so far!

Ha! What a cool picture!

Have you see the movie Constantine? There's a great line, when the lead character is attempting to cross into hell to find the soul of the twin sister of a cop who has come to him for help. The sister committed suicide, but the twin doesn't believe it because the dead girl was such a devout Catholic. Anyway, Constantine needs a conduit, and the twin sister who is the cop has a cat. Constantine's remark is that cat's are great conduits because they're half-in half-out, anyway. ;o)

That picture eerily suggests just that!

So, today I...

Got up at 7 and got Luke to church, me to choir (Not Valerie took Nana). We went to a friends house for lunch. Then back for rehearsal from 2:30-7:00. Luke is finishing up snack afore I get him to bed.

Needless to say, I haven't written a word today.

At rehearsal today we were working on the Nativity seen. Director said "think of a story for your character and imagine what it would have been like to have been there." I leaned over the the Mrs. and whispered:

Calvin Lee tried to picture himself in first century Bethlehem and wondered what it would have been like.

Well. Alrighty, then.

Proof that truth is stranger than fiction.

I guess you could pretty much assign ANY motive to a fictional murderer — it’s probably been used at least once in real life.

LOL!

I did a lot of typewriting today, but haven’t transcribed yet. Should do that before bed, I guess.

Mmmm...typewriter.

I'm with you, although almond M&Ms aren't bad.

got a question for you as a resident SME on very cold water.

I dunno if'n I'm truly a SME or not, but I'll give it a whirl.

So other than hypothermia symptoms by the time they reach the other side, what other physiological phenomenon might they experience? Could they feasibly get across? What goes through your brain when the water is that cold?

Well... I suppose everything would be hypothermia symptoms, but there are some that people don't think about. Fleece is no help, though the wool underneath is better than nothing. Cotton, as you probably know, is worse than nothing.

Extremities start to seize up even after a couple of minutes. It would be hard to make a fist or to hold on to anything, like a rope. If they're just crossing that 40 feet they probably won't be in long enough for the brain to get cold... and it does cause very slow, dumb thinking, but takes longer, maybe 20 mins or so.

If they get across quickly, the deeper hypothermic stuff might not have time to set in. They'll still have the shivers on the other side. Deeper hypothermia is when you stop shivering, everything feels numb, and you don't feel so cold anymore. Then you're about to die.

It'll be imperative to get out of the wet clothes on the other side and into something dry. Staying wet without some way to warm up and they're still in big trouble.

The shock of jumping or falling in will be excruciating. Water that cold *hurts*. It's not just cold. It's painful.

Guess I’ll have to make brownies again sometime.

My word count for the day is way low. Oh well. We got to church even though we were out til 3:30 last night. Actually made church twice - a morning service at one spot and an evening one at another.

Cocoa nibs...mmmm...

Ever had one of Scharffen Berger’s nibby bars?

*drool*

I wouldn’t know where to buy cocoa nibs, though. They don’t sell ‘em just at the grocery, do they?

almond M&Ms

Huh? I didn't even know they MADE almond M&M's! SirKit loves the Snickers with Almonds, so I'm sure he'd like the M & M's as well.
