The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

How do you feel about Hugh Grant?

I think you summed it up pretty well already today...

Well if it doesn’t help your wordcount...

We have a cool group here. Not that much writing gets done but it’s a fun time. And Roasters has super-great hot chocolate.

Most of the write-ins this year are held at my favorite coffee place. They have really, really good coffee and chai and pastries and all. I go there on Saturday mornings a lot of the time and just hang out. I think I prefer that to the formal write-ins...if you can call ‘em formal.

So I may devise my own write-ins instead.

Go for it. That is what I am trying to do with my lunches. Too bad all the places with the right atmosphere have too much food :P
Like now. I am not really hungry but I really need to get out of here for a while and write.

Oh, I wouldn’t go daily or anything. Just my usual Saturdays. The coffee place is not on my way to anything, unfortunately.

My lunches are reserved for reading. ;-)

I don’t get enough time at lunch to actually leave the building for lunch...so I don’t have that problem. I just have the problem of not always putting my book away when I should have.

Sometimes I write at lunch... it usually helps.

Sometimes I write in the afternoon when I am just sick of trying to write requirements or design.

Hmm I forgot to determine if the scene I am working on takes place before or after the others learn of that one character’s death. Hmm, got to figure that out pronto.

I can’t remember...were you hanging out here much at that point? I know a few have come and gone since then.

Dunno - that was a long time ago.

Yeah it is. But mechanics-wise it kinda should be after. And by being before I will have to tell the part with them finding out ‘on camera’... I guess I gotta.

I don’t get very long for lunch...and although I can hold a book in one hand and eat with the other, I can’t type with one hand efficiently enough to make it worth it. Also, at this point I’m rather addicted to paper and find it easier to compose things that way.

I suppose I *can* handwrite with one hand. Hm. So there’s that.

Maybe I’ll have more time to write during the day after this week is over. It’s been pretty crazy this week.

I have been struggling to get any done in the morning this time but lunch has been good for writing for me so far.

Heh heh...not really. It’s another agency. I work when I want and if they have a need, where ever there is a need. They don’t even interview you...you just go in, fill out the paperwork, take the drug screen and you’re in!

The position I interviewed for yesterday is in one hospital...but even they told me their census sometimes goes down on the weekends (when I’d be available to work) and I’d be canceled. That’s ok, because it’s good to have on your resume “recent hospital experience”. Whether I work or not, I’d still be an employee and can claim it.

So if I get that job, along with my two agencies...I’ll probably be able to work at least once a week. Once a week is my goal.

I work this Saturday with my original agency. Twelve hour day...$26/hour.

And I get paid tomorrow for the hospice shift I worked last week...my second paycheck. I still haven’t got over the shock! Heh heh!
