The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...
Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

So...I had a sudden desire to start a crochet project today.
Why does this happen to me every November?
Oh well...only have about five hundred words to go to make word count today...

The soup sounds tasty. Do you have a recipe to share?

Heh...I never use recipes for soups. I tend to just dump stuff together and hope for the best! It turned out OK, but not nearly as good as the minestrone type stuff I made last week, with kidney beans and vegetables and lots of garlic and oregano.
I think it would have been better with a lighter tasting beer. Dad used to add a bit to bean soup when he made it, but I used something dark, and it’s kind of strong.
Made some decaf coffee for dessert. ~sip~

I've never been a fan of minestrone, and I'm not sure why. Maybe the combination of kidney beans and pasta just doesn't do it for me. Makes me think of Pasta Fagioli, and that is just too heavy. I do like Black Bean Soup, though. Maybe I'll try it next time with some Andouille sausage or Kielbasa. This is the best time of year for a good pot of soup.

Oh, I just remembered a recipe that my sister gave me a long time ago. It’s a beef soup made with ground beef instead of chunks of roast or steak. It also has lots of onions, celery, potatoes and carrots in a strong beef broth. Quick to make and vey good!

Oh yeah! Thanks for the reminder. Actually I left my alarm clock an hour behind where it ended up last week. I’ll have to change all the others tonight.
