The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

As you know, I’ve not had good luck with beagles either.

Never met one that wasn’t insane.

Well, we would have made more progress on words (and been on the road) but it was One Of Those Mornings.

Should be walking out the door soon. Happy writing folks.

Ultimately, yes. I know my skills are limited. With more time and some help, I could have done this. And I may try to tackle similar projects in the future.

However, if it's a plumbing question I don't even think about trying to fix it. I replaced a toilet...once.

heh, some dogs are like that; Gifford was, Samantha wasn’t. Gypsy doesn’t have an ‘off’ switch so if she had access to the food, she’d eat herself sick.

We remember when we brought Samantha home from ‘Wayside Waifs’. The care instructions said to be sure to gradually introduce her to new food. Sam took one look at the food in her bowl (the stuff they gave us) looked up and informed us, without saying a word, ‘Look, I ate that C#ap for nearly three freakin’ months, you think I’m going to eat it now? Come on folks, we can do better can’t we?’ Well, a trip to the store, she was a happy camper.

Uh...yeah...poor you and your pathetic word count... ;-)

I’m not sure what mine is. Will probably do some transcribing tonight.

Victim just spent almost an entire PAGE in taking out a bag of trash. Welcome to NaNoWriMo...

I was on a roll last night, that’s all. Most likely won’t write another word today.

I think hound type breeds are just like that, too. The dachshunds definitely had no off switch, and I had to be very careful what was left within reach. Fiona ate most of a container of oatmeal at one time - for a little dog, that was NOT a good move. She was hurting, for sure. Then there was the time she chewed open a container of macademia nuts that I thought was well out of her reach, and ate the whole thing. What’s scary about those is that they cause temporary paralysis - her back legs weren’t working right.

Cisco will usually eat what’s put in front of him, and I don’t think I could just leave a bowl out at all times, but he doesn’t *always* finish a meal, and he doesn’t try to get into the container. I don’t think it even occurs to him.

Paint. It came pre-primed with the kit. I’m going to try to match the house.

Finally some progress, if only 585 words worth.

Bad shopper hobbit! Bad!

What started out as a run for cat food and dental floss ended up with an 8-lb picnic shoulder and a side trip to the likker store. Mmmmmm....Irish cream and NC barbecue....(although not necessarily together.)

Sometimes you just gotta dump the words out and wait until the rewrite to make ‘em pretty. ;-)

Just back from the library. Of *course* all the books I’ve been waiting for months to get (via the interlibrary request thing) all come in now...go figger.
