The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Yeah, their first...he was ten days late, then the inducing didn’t completely work, and in the end they did a C-section. Ouch. But I guess everyone’s OK.

I told Matthew that I wanted to get a blond wig and dress up like Buffy...carry around a stake and everything.

He said I had too many wrinkles.

Steve’s gonna have to have a talk with him about when it’s inappropriate to be honest.

Hey, sis!

I don't know if you're in my story this year or not ... there may be a place for a lady whose heart's desire is to be useful, and she might be a nurse, but that's not you ... you're not old, and you've always been useful!

It was nice talking to you, too, and to LSA! <waving>

I should have taken today off so I can write... NewJob negotiations took a turn fr the pathetic yesterday and I'm very frustrated. During the interview, I asked if I would be able to negotiate salary. They said yes. Working with their HR team, I asked about negotiation, and they said yes. Then they lowball the salary offer and explain the negotiation process. So I put together my justification statement and provide a 'meet me halfway' proposal for salary. Then I get a call yesterday saying, "Ooops, we were wrong. There's this reg, see, that says no negotiation." Well isn't that nice. So now I'm weighing options. I'm interested in win-win, not in falling on a sword.

Well, just dang.

I’m off to the trainers. Didn’t get up quite as early as I wanted. Still...it’s begun...

How's Nana doing, by the way?

Nana's doing ~okay~. She's had some problems with her foot that's kept her from walking for a few weeks. So we've got to go through that again.

While no one has said it, at this point, I don't see her coming home. But in a bizarre twist on ~good~ news, her roommate, um...left. So Nana's got the window now.

Am I in your story?

You were the inspiration for a character in my story.

You're sweet on my main character and you keep bringing by fresh eggs and baked goods. But to fit the story, I had to make you a spinster...and a bit frumpy (for a while anyway).

I won't tell Matthew.

We're bad parents. Didn't even think of the camera last night. Here's a picture of all of us from Saturday night.

Last night for the Fall Festival Jr. said he wanted to write "I need a car" on a t-shirt and go as a prayer request.

I guess they took the hint with the curtains. Then again we probably missed some of them by going to mass.
