For those of you who don't indulge in bounty-hunter reality shows, this is Dog and his posse:

The young man in the middle with the tattoos on his arms (Leland Chapman, Dog's son) is wearing a pair of padded gloves. I can certainly see where the padding might be replaced with powdered lead, and I can see my private investigator Cam wearing a pair so enhanced when he's hunting.

The two gentlemen in back are exhibiting baseball caps in both bill-forward and bill-backward positions, which is what promped my question about the hats. These two always wear hats, and always in the same configuration. It got me to wondering ...

Evening Miss Rose - that’s quite a ‘family’ portrait. Wow.

The hats may be just a trademark or habit. Some of us wear ‘em (bill forward) to keep from getting sunburn on our head (folically challenged etc.) :-)

I didn't know that, about faces and hands being so recognizable!

So if I send my Finder on the prowl, he should have at least a hat, face paint, and gloves.

Can I get away with a Stetson? Maybe a straw one (it's May, after all)? The sunshine through the spaces between straws should create a dappling effect on the face that breaks up the features ...

Or mayhe he just uses a baseball cap when he's Hunting ...

I like the work boots better ... can't imagine creeping through the wet woods wearing ostrich skin boots.

It got me to wondering ...

They've watched too many "Mad Max" movies. Everything about them screams, "target". Or "made for TV".

I suppose it wouldn't make much difference if they're busting unsuspecting drunken bad guys at 4AM. They can also write off their Halloween costumes as a business expense.

The gloves are also good if you're handling a batter ram or sledge. Or if you might put your fist through some glass.

Personally, I'd upgrade the armor, and downgrade the punk image. I might have an assortment of commercial uniforms and coveralls (UPS, bakery, phone company) that could fit over some Kevlar upgraded with an anti-stab plate. I wouldn't dress like a cable TV guy, too many people out there ready to shoot him on general principles.
