Evening....
Yes, mostly.
But it’s always morning somewhere.
...And too damn early every single time.
:-)
11:30 here....
That’s odd. It’s 8:45 here.
70s flashback.
I just finished tie-dying a shirt for Not Valerie’s Halloween costume. We’re going to a costume party for the 16-year-old son of friends tomorrow night (guess by now it’s tonight). She’s dressing as a hippie. I’m dressing as a mime.
We’re going as “Peace and Quiet.”
Y'all are so funny and inventive!
In this book, which is set in 1995, we learn of a kidnapping ring targeting the families of nouveau riche dot-com millionaires.
Many of these abductions have gone unreported to authorities; those that have been investigated by the FBI have been frustrating to the agents.
Several of the victims seem to have just ... walked away, willingly and without fuss; others have disappeared in an eyeblink. The ransom notes appear inside the houses of the millionaire, in intimate locations --- on the pillow in the victim's room, or hanging from the shower rod in the master bath.
When the FBI is called in, the kidnappers know, seemingly immediately, and more notes appear until the agents withdraw.
The money drop is always a reasonable amount, no more than a million, and is always delivered in paper bags to a trash can or dumpster, from whence it promptly disappears. Monitors attached to the bags stop working when the bags touch the rest of the trash.
The money collected --- now over ten million --- has apparently never been spent; marked bills have not appeared in circulation. Once the money is taken, the victim is returned, completely unharmed and unable to remember anything of their ordeal.
My hero is a finder of lost heart's desires, and he's trying to find these kidnappers. He's frustrated in his quest, something that's never happened to him before. He thinks they're just kidnappers ...
Thank y'all so much for letting me plot out loud here in the Hobbit Hole ... it makes NaNoLife so much easier ...!
My hero is a pilot; has a ranch with a runway, flies himself all over the continent. If money were no object, what sort of plane would he fly most often? He often has to land on short or dirt runways, and he often has company.
If you had your druthers, what would you fly in those circumstances?
Alternate universe kidnappers? Time travels? Magic? Aliens?
Funny that you should mention time, though ... that comes into play later ... and the aliens show up a ways down the road ...
~hooked~ I'll buy that book, please, ma'am. Right now even!
ah love it!!! You guys are super creative!
Heya, so are you released from captivity?
Freeze warning tonight....time to bring in the basil!
Ack!! Looks like I’ll be havesting basil and making pesto this afternoon. Thanks for the warning! LSA
Morning Hair, Miss Rose
Very nice plane, how about a Taylorcraft or a Fairchild?
So hey - how’d the first night go? I thought about ya!
Civilian versions are still flying today because it is very forgiving, and can handle an engine-out easily because of the push-pull configuration.
I’m bringing in two plants to overwinter....if I can keep the whiteflies away. The others I’m going to dry. I’ve got a strawberry pot potted with thyme, basil, chives, and chocolate peppermint. The oregano is going into a different pot.
I think I need more shelves for my sunroom!
