The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

*shudder*

I see that watching thousands of hours of Law and Order (more than once) hasn't been a total loss!

Alas, no. It is not.

I'm ready to go, tho. I'm going to write in a room with poor wireless reception... easier to concentrate that way.

You could rent yourself out to Nano-ers as a consultant / subject matter expert on court stuff.

I really only have wireless in one area, which makes it easier. With a good dictionary and thesaurus in the other room, I have no real excuse to leave my writing desk.

If I have internet access, I goof off. I’m good at that.

Heh...the Hobbit Hole really should recruit a doctor, a lawyer or two, and maybe a few police officers, just for such purposes...

I’m sure I’ll think of other fields we don’t have covered, just as soon as I’ve posted this.

You mean we don’t need people who can develop sweet potato cake recipes?

Yah, she made it there fine, and is at Becky's house now. I'm tuckered after getting up at 2 this morning, gonna eat and hit the couch.

I'm not looking forward to riding out tomorrow night's storm alone. :-\

A very strong weather system will be approaching the Oregon coast Wednesday night, the remnants of Tropical Storm Lingling. This system will move onshore somewhere between Astoria, OR and central Vancouver Island, BC. A High Wind Watch is in effect from 2 AM through 2 PM Thursday for the Oregon and south Washington coast. South winds are expected to increase to 60 MPH or greater as the warm front followed by the cold front from this strong low pressure system impact the coast. This storm is still developing and could change direction, so stay tuned as they say.

That sounds like a synthetic form of curare, which is what the natives used to put on tips of pointy needle like things to shoot through reeds to immobilize folks in the jungle.
