Good morning!
We had an interesting early morning. At a bit after four, I woke up because first of all I heard my computer speakers making odd noises and thought I heard the power strip doing strange things, too, so I got up to turn ‘em off...and then there was a HUGH bang outside and the power went completely out.
Apparently someone hit a pole south of here and caused a pretty wide spread power outage. We’re assuming the big bang was a transformer that got cooked by a surge, but I dunno. The power came back on a tiny bit after six...not until I managed to step in the dog’s water in the dark, though. I took the headlight off my bike and used it as a flashlight, but I already had soaked socks by then. ;-)
Heh...guess I shoulda read before posting.
Ow...that’s the pole that got hit? I can’t completely see it...
Sure does seem like people crash into utility poles on a regular basis here!
You can see in the picture the snapped off bottom of the pole. Something big hit it. Bigger than a mere car, I think. Maybe one of those gravel trucks that fly down that road.
I think that's the same yard the septic truck overturned in. It's rough being the house on the only bend in the road I think.
And for a bit of good news...
My trial period is over, and I’ve been officially hired, with a raise even! They like me, they really like me! ;)
Of course, I then had to put in a 12-hour day to help get a big project done for today’s deadline, so I didn’t get home until after 9 last night.
The white thing on the ground is a transformer... the base of the pole is right next to it.
Well, congrats! And the raise is great news!
whuh??
Where’s it going?
Whoohoo!
Read the BLOG!!! The whole reason I started the blog was for your guys!!!
I mean, “for YOU guys”.
Didn’t want to clutter up the Hole with a bunch of pictures you know, having enough foresight to know that this project was going to take a LONG LONG time....
Ah cool!
I guess that makes sense.... in order to go to the car show, it needs to *go* to the car show!
*bonk* my head. It's Friday at least!
Heh heh!!
In the “All the King’s Horses” post you can see us putting it back together...we worked on it till nearly midnight.
Great news, Ecurb!
Two more hours and I can go home and start cleaning and de-frapping. This is the weekend of de-frap doom. A portable dumpster gets dropped off sometime after 1 and we’re go for cleaning.
I figure, the sooner we clear out crap, the sooner things get organized and the sooner we can get to vital project number one - installing my beautiful, beautiful dishwasher.
It really is gorgeous... stainless steel, the controls hidden on the top so the front is featureless, a straight rod handle that will match the handles I’m going to put on the cabinets when I repaint them.
Most excellent. Congratulations!
Mmmm! Gotta love a new appliance!
