Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
If she would agree I would agree! ;~)
Barkley and Cisco get along marvelously, they play, they roll around, it never gets serious. They have a great time. If I watched them play I’d never think Barkley was a dog-aggressive dog. It’s Gidget he has a problem with. And I would say it’s Gidget who has the worst doggie social skills. She’s never been a player, doesn’t care for other dogs much, and has maybe gotten away with being kindof a bully because no one’s ever stood up to her. I don’t know.
Either that or buy new friends.
I love having our two dogs. They keep each other entertained so well. We can just let them into the yard and they’ll chase each other and beat each other up all day.
Too much Nano research can be a dangerous thing. I just totaly invalidated a major subplot that provided a sustaining income for my MC.
oops
The same thing happened to my trebuchet.
(no trees.)
On the plus side however, I may get to ~eliminate~ a family attorney.
That could be fun...
He was a necessary evil.
He was supposed to be managing the family interests in rice plantation land that had been divided up and rented to other farmers. Trouble is, after the rice industry failed in South Carolina, that land wasn’t reclaimed. I don’t know why I hadn’t put those pieces together before.
So it looks like when the MC moves back home from Atlanta, he’s actually going to have to ~werk~.
Werk as in laboring or lawyering?
He’s a journalist. Initially I had him leaving the small town paper to go work in Atlanta, moving back home for a family crisis.
I think now I can reverse that and he comes home to write/edit the small town paper. Would work into why he wants to write the novel on the old manual typewriter and not on the office PC.
Ooops.
I got distracted from plotting to design software to help me plot. Hmmm...
You could write about your own creation, how it assumes an intelligence of its own and consumes your work...
But I finally found a plot the other day and it’ll work... really well...
On the other hand this tool could be pretty cool. It’d give me a chance to work on some programming areas wher eI’m a bit weak and would be awfully spiffy...
Heh.
Hmm... lawyers, journalists... you’re really exploring the dark side of humanity with this one, aren’t ya.
Would you be able to get 50K worth of words out of the code?
But, it will be a chance for me to develop my XML skills and my GUI design skills - the last are nonexistant - as well as designing and implementing a major piece of software, by myself, from scratch. It could be my “show piece” that I keep updated, add new features to, and use in a few years to land contracting work for myself.
I was thinkin’ of using Java but I’m gonna have to stick with the Microsoft solution - I can make a much prettier piece of software with .Net.
Heck, it’s probably 50k lines of code....
If you can do that in one month, I say it counts. :P
