Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
He is a very big loss. Very sad indeed.
I got rid of Comcast in 2005, now I use SBC for $15 a month.
“I understand the app and the AA form, but not the consumer credit report form. Any thoughts?”
They can figure out your debt load and make an offer based on what you need to pay your bills. Kind of a crappy way to make an offer, IMO.
Um... it’s not going to rain much... just overcast... maybe a little “misting”. :~)
Just let me know. :~)
I’m on hold with someone who says he can help me.
He’s far too chatty for my personal preferences.
Washington has too many forms of rain...it’s hard to keep track. When I see a rain cloud on the little forecast thingie, I assume rain. ;-) I’ll adjust, really I will...
I’ll post once I have the estimate and all.
Yah, I’ve heard of that... running credit checks as part of the new hire process. I believe you can blame Mr. Sarbanes and Mr. Oxley for that one.
It’s a bad thing. Credit records are wildly inaccurate. I’ve read estimates that anywhere from 1/3 or more of all records in credit agencies’ data is wrong. I don’t see the point of using it for any sort of decision. Whether to hire or, for that matter, whether to grant credit.
What's rain, precious?
Midwest in August = drought. On the good side, fewer West Nile infected mosquitoes mean the blue jays are finally coming back!!
They say the local tribes used to have dozens of different words for different kinds of rain. Same for snow.
‘course... they only have one word for Casino. :-)
NW in August is usually dry too... it’s weird to even have this overcast. It’s been a rather odd summer. We don’t usually get rain at all in July or August.
On the bright side, it’s been far cooler this summer than it was last.
We had a big storm yesterday and I expected another today... it was way humid earlier but now it’s sunny so who knows.
I don’t like it either.
Bothers me. Sends up red flags about the company.
If it’s a Sarbanes Oxley thing, they may not have a choice, right Ramius?
On the other hand, if they’re doing it voluntarily just to be nosy, I wouldn’t apply there.
Posting from work, which is a rare thing... usually the post function is blocked.
Well good morning! Post while you can :~)
Well...Jr. got a job working at a sporting goods store.
So, there’s that.
Nice!!
I wouldn’t say that it reflects much of anything about the company. My company ran a credit check on me 17 years ago, though that was for an accounting position. I think we do it to everybody now.
In looking at their website, they’re private, not publicly held so it isn’t SOX. It’s some hotshot MBA in the HR department that heard about the technique in one of his classes and talked the VP into it.
On hold still?
I’m working on getting into a class this fall. I still have two for my masters’... it would be good to get them done but I am not sure I have enough time before the start. Fingers crossed...
