All of our trail horses are turned to face dogs and go to them. I’m not sure how that would work with something like a pit bull though. They will also chase and attack dogs in the pasture. It seems that some kind of spray would be a good idea.

Sorry to take so long to respond. Anyway, we did turn the horses back to them and they would retreat, then right back after us again. I think if we hadn't had this little kid trying to help us getting further away from his drive all the time we would have just kept going and they would have given up eventually.

Here is wording from that ad:

Developed specifically for use in deterring aggressive animals as an alternative to pepper spray. Safe for humans and pets while providing a strong deterrent to the animal. Contains citronella, combined with a strong force of spray. Can be used by anyone that may encounter animals with aggressive behavior (delivery carriers, joggers, hikers and more). Contains approximately 10-12 one second sprays for economical use. Use while on horseback, on foot or in kennels, etc. Caution: (Although Direct Stop has shown to be as effective as 10% pepper spray with dogs, it may not stop trained attack animals, or those with a strong motivation to attack.)

It's $7.99, free shipping, so I may give it a try. <
