FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

Heat index is 120 here today. Not a breath of wind, temp is 100 degrees on the shaded porch thermometer.

It's still too hot to shop! The kids and hubby went to the Harry Potter movie - I didn't go cause I haven't seen the preceding movie yet (just not a big fan anyhow).

Just got back from lunch and it is stifleing outside right now! Had to go buy dog food and it took my van 10 miles to get cool.

Wow Hair, you’ve really got some great shots entered over there. I can see another winner’s prize in your future!

Good Morning and Happy Friday!

This one was my favorite...

Cyn has such a "GET OUTTA MY FACE!" expression and Pony looks like she's thinking "OOPS, I shouldn't've done that!" So funny!

Well, there must be tons of pictures on that page because I can’t get it to load:\ I’m going to town later, I look at them down there, we have DSL there:).

I’ve got a few pictures loading that I’ll enter too. Thanks for the link.

I don’t know if you entered one in the head shot catagory, but when I was looking thru my pictures I came across one that you took while I was there that would be a really good head shot picture. It was of both Cyn and Bays heads with the new halters on. They both have their ears up and it’s a good picture.

I liked that one too... but it didn’t seem to fit the categories, so it got stuck in misc... It was a little too angry to be a good ‘freedom’ shot. ;~)

They should have a category for horse squabbling. :~)

Thank you on the pics... we’ll see!

There are tons of pictures... the one I included has ecurbh, you and Mia in the creek.

I looked at that one of Bay and Cyn when I was looking for another head shot... I ended up picking on of Mia. She really does have a pretty face. My first pic was the one I got of Bay last weekend... I just think it's a terrific shot :~)

Anyway... I won't slow this thread down too. :~) You'll see them later :~D

I’ll bet they use that head shot of Bay in their catalog to showcase their hackamore. They have one just like that, only it’s brown. I ordered one and a black Wintec synthetic bridle and used it on Ellie last weekend. But I went ahead and dyed it black because I hate stuff that doesn’t match.

Heh... If I thought it was the same one I’d send it to them! They used some of our others... I should look through the fencing pictures and see if there’s good product shots. They sell the fencing and the tape and the t-post caps and stuff.

You should enter "Shades of Gray" I love that picture.

Buster doing his "Attack" would be a cute one too.

I’m not sure but I think I entered “Shades” last year so I don’t know if I can enter it again. I really like that picture too though, and the one of Buster and his bird just cracks me up every time I look at it. But the one of Bear wearing my pants is just cute beyond belief. I swear that cat must’ve been a model in a past life!

I was reading the rules and it only says that you can’t enter any that WON in last year’s contest. Did I read that right?

Well, I’ve been sweating all morning getting the holes under the house beagle-proofed. We’ve got the fence all done but Barkley’s still had to be on the tether because he went under the house, and we don’t want him under there.

I think it’s all done... Now I just need to let him loose, and follow him around with a pistol in case he gets out ;~)

I don’t know if it’s possible to beagle-proof a fence unless you pour a foot of concrete around it or run a hot wire around the inside at ground level. That’s funny about him getting under the house. Maybe he was looking for an escape route under there, or more possum mummies.
