This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Morning... Today is the last day of our wonderful clear and cold here... tomorrow may bring in clouds and some kind of moisture. What kind depends on how much it warms up.
Becky I just wanted to say, since I’m not sure what you and 2J already talked about, that we were thinking of delivering the tree sometime next week, and maybe someone from the nursery to help plant it, since digging a big hole at your place is a bit of a challenge.
If you have scheduling issues, let us know what works, and we’ll work around it. No rush to get it in the ground. :~)
It’s good to hear from you. I hope you will enjoy the tree.
Sun is shining here finally but California is socked in with rain and snow - I’m hoping it peters out before it comes over the mountains.
I do need for 2J to holdup a bit on buying and setting up the planting of the tree....
This is something Mack and I had planned on doing and I am going to go ahead...I am going to be selling this house, and moving to town...there is no way I can keep up with everything here, especially by myself...my plans are going to take probably a year to finish. The kids and I talked last night about this tree, and we are first going to see if we can get permission to plant it in the park across from the building...that is where I’m going to finally land up living. I will be putting in an apartment in 1/2 of Mack’s office. If we can’t get permission to do that, then we will have it planted on the land where the kids live.
Mack and I have talked about doing this for several years now, it’s just getting it done will be a momental task he was no up too. I’ve always thought living down there would be great....people around during the day, then quiet a night.
I hope this does not upset you all to much with such a wonderful idea....I’m really hoping, and think we will be able too because of some of the city officials we know, that we can get it in the park. But what ever happens please know that the thought that was put into such a wonderful gift is greatly appreciated, and even if it lands up at the kids place, I will see it and tend it often.
Becky
I think that’s a wonderful idea, moving to town. It will be so much nicer for you I think. If there is something else that would suit better than the tree, please let us know. We all want what is best for you.
I think it would be so very nice to have it anywhere but especially in the park...I really think we will be able to put it over there, but of course we need to check first.
Becky
You let us know... we’ll hold off. If you plan to move to town, that park would be a great place for it.
But tell us... what does this mean for riding, what are your thoughts/plans?
:) I’ll keep my fingers crossed then for the park. Will the kids be able to take the horses?
LOL..I’m going to sell both the horses I have, get my life in order and then get me one of those racking horses. If Frog still has Hope that’s the one I’d buy, if not, I’m hoping she will help me find one, or have another of her own.
I can keep a horse at the kids. I’m not giving up on riding, it’s just got to put on hold for a it till I get my life in order.
Becky
Well, that’s what we’ll Hope for then. :~)
And you know... we’re VERY flexible. If you hint around or we think about it a little more, maybe there’s something that would be a lot more practical or applicable than a tree :~)
We thought of the tree because of the one you talked about out in the woods. I liked the idea that it would be lasting, as that one has outlasted whoever planted it. But we’d really just like to do something nice for you.
Ask at the park if you like... or drop us some hints if you’d like us to do something else :~)
I think this is very wise and sound judgement.
Hair has vouched for my financial integrity with the people that have contributed. I have a separate account that I used when I was doing troop support. I will place the funds I’ve been given in that account until all the particulars are worked out.
Then someday, maybe in the Spring, I’ll swing by and get you in my purple PT Cruiser and we’ll go pick out the perfect tree.
I remember that you had talked about doing that last year and I think it's a great idea. We had kinda worried about you being out there alone on that big hill in the wintertime. It sounds like fun too, what with the park right across the street, and you'd have a good restaurant right next door too.
As for the horses, I had wondered if you wouldn't sell them both, since you were planning on selling Harley anyways and were just hanging on to Rocky because he was Larry's horse and he didn't want to sell him at the time. Not having that responsibility for a while will give you a whole lot more flexability.
As far as my horses go, I'm not in any hurry to sell any of them. Goose and Whirl will go to the trainers this spring and I'm sure they will both turn out to be very good trail horses. I'm not going to sell any of them to just anybody, so I'll definately have something for you to choose from when you decide you want a horse again. But you definately need to think about paying me and BladeRider a visit sometime soon and going riding with us. We can take you to some GOOD places! The invite's always open.
Will you take both dogs and the cat with you when you go to town or will you let the kids keep some of them?
Yes, you must! You can stay with me or we can camp, I have a weekender package in my trailer. It would be a nice get away when it warms up and you have the time.
Becky, I apologize if this is too emotional, feel free to ignore it for now if you aren’t in the mood. It’s a video of a great bridleless bareback reining ride by Stacie Westphall at the QH Congress. Emotional because she dedicates it to her dad, who had died a few weeks earlier.
It’s worth seeing, but I didn’t want to blindside you, the music and the tribute teared me up.

Cyn’s finally growing up into a responsible adult!
Maybe she has some maternal instincts after all :~)
Hey...you are always welcome to visit here too. You could crank up that RV and make the rounds someday:’)
We’re 25 at the moment... precipitation coming, they aren’t sure what kind... might come as rain, sleet, or hopefully... snow!
